“Lovely accomodations in charming Colmar”

First of all, GO TO COLMAR! I certainly expected to live the Alsace region, but Colmar charmed us to no end. No reason to look further for Alsatian charm! Le Colmbier is a lovely small hotel with a modern edge and B&B like welcoming service. I'm not sure there is a better location in a strolling friendly town. AND, Wintrub Brenner is right next door! Charm, food, wine...the whole package!

“Charming location in Colmar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We arrived by train from Paris on the same day as the Tour de France. Thus, it was very late at night when we arrived, but we were taken up to the 4th floor and given a large room with a king-sized bed. This room was probably an attic before the hotel was remodeled. Our room was very spacious, with plenty of room for our large luggage and two chairs for sitting and drinking wine in the evening. The bathroom facilities were divided into two separate rooms that were both very modern. The hotel was just a few minutes walk away from the river, along with many pastel-colored half-timbered houses, and many of the beautiful old town village shops. Nearby restaurants served incredible meals with sumptuous meats, fish, vegetables, and Alsace wines. Colmar had more delicious food for us to sample than anywhere else we traveled in Europe last summer. The lack of English-speaking staff was just a bit problematic for us because we wanted to do some cold-water laundry on our 2nd day in Colmar and no one at the hotel seemed to understand what we were asking for. Thank goodness for the translation application in my iphone! We were able to pack our dirty laundry in a small wheeled suitcase and walk to the other side of town and then walked down the stairs under the railroad tracks and up the stairs on the other side to find a local laundromat (laveria). There was a nice French woman there who showed us where to get change and how to use the machines. True, there was no English-language channel on the TV, but we didn't really care. Walking on quaint cobblestone streets all day long tired us out enough that sleep came very quickly for us every night. Yes, I would recommend this hotel to those who know how to use an iphone with a language translation app.

“What we hoped for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We spent our 50th Anniversary in Colmar and had selected this hotel for our stay. It was all we hoped for: friendly, helpful staff, lovely room, and central to everything we wanted to see. The conversion of an ancient building into an ultra modern hotel might seem impossible, but it has been nicely done.

Room Tip: We stayed on a top floor: room had ancient beams in the ceiling, but ultra modern furnishings and ba...

“Simply great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

We stayed here in October. The Hotel is phantastic, conveniently located in the heart of the old part of Colmar. Lovely restaurants just araound the corner. Staff is very friendly and helpful, good service orientation. The rooms have a perfect mixture of modern design style, making use of the nice character of the ancient buildings. The value of this hotel is excellent.

Dear guest,

We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay and thought it was perfect.

In our hotel the mix of the modern decoration in an old building is our particularity that we use everyday as an advantage since every rooms are different.

Every day, we recommend a lot of restaurants in our town according to the wisches of the guests.

We’re always pleased to hear such great review and thank you kindly.

Thank you again for your time.

Sincerely yours

“COULD TRY HARDER”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

This hotel is in a convenient location and fairly smart and modern. However, we will probably not return as it is not suited to any English speaking people.
When we arrived they said they did not have a porter and we would have to move our large amount of luggage without offering any assistance whatsoever.

Out of 143 TV channels they only have bloomberg as the only one English speaking channel available.
Our sink was blocked when we arrived and despite asking four times in French to clear it no one came. The smell was terrible all night.

Not really worth the money in our view, as we went to Hotel Les Tetes nearby for one night where the service and food was immpeccable .

Dear Madam, Dear Sir.

Thank you for having taken the time to share your Hotel Colombier experience with us.
It is always important for us the receive feedback from our quests, whether positive or negative.

We regret to hear that your stay was not as you expect. First because of language problems, be sure we have approximatly 25% of our guests how speaks english, we are not bilingual but we understand the expectations of our customers and are fully able to meet them.
It is thrue that we don't have a porter at the hotel, and we are mostly womens....

You compare our hotel with les Têtes, they are 4* and we are 3*, so there is a lot of items you can't really compare.

We thank you again for your feedback though we feel it has not been objective to our hotel.

Kind Regards
