The hotel is very well located, very close to the historic centre of Colmar. Reasonable sized room, though the whole hotel decor was a bit tired. Front desk service was initially good, but then we hit problems. The weather was unseasonably hot, and combined with huge south-facing windows, the room was stiflingly hot. The air conditioning was not working, so we had to sleep with the window wide open (with resulting traffic noise). Hotel staff were very offhand about the issues, commenting that the central aircon unit was faulty when they switched it on, and might be fixed in a week or so.

We stayed over the week end at the Mercure Champ de Mars.

The hotel is ideally located, right beside the old town of Colmar, meaning you can reach any part of the old town within a 10 minutes walk.

On top of the location, service was just great. The front desk was very helpful and always trying to provide us with information on the city and all this with a great smile. Haven t had such a wonderful service for ages even in top notch hotels which are supposed to be top of the crop.

The building itself is nothing fancy though, it s just a plain squarish building that must date back to the 70s. The interior is fair, some parts have been renovated while some haven t, so the overall impression is of a very medium range hotel, nothing fancy but not too old or dirty either.
The rooms are fine and quite big. Again they are not fully renovated so it s neither new nor old.

Overall we had a great stay at this hotel. It s nothing fancy but location and service make do for the rest. Moreover value for money is great during the low season.

The hotel seems to have been renovated recently. Everything looks new. I got first class treatment especially at breakfast time as there were not many clients. The food was good, there was a choice of items on the menu. The members of the staff I met were very pleasant and the bed was wonderful. Moreover the room was quiet being far from the busy street. So it was an excellent stay.
