“Smell of cigarettes”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We were very disappointed with our room. When we first arrived we were struck by an unpleasant smell in the room. We then discovered a glass of coke hidden behind the curtains with 5 cigarette butts in it (it was a no smoking room). We told reception who said they would use an air freshener to freshen up the room while we were out. When we returned the smell was still there. We then asked reception if we could change rooms, but they said the hotel was full so there was nothing more they could do. When we checked out the following day we recounted our experience to reception who said they would email us a complimentary upgrade for our next visit. This has not arrived. All in all a poor experience for such a high profile hotel.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback, of which I am disappointed to read.

I am sorry that you found your room to have an odour of stale smoke present. Your comments have allowed me to speak with my Head Housekeeper, and she has confirmed that she had not received a report from her housekeeping team highlighting that this room had been smoked in. I can assure you that this is an isolated incident as we have sophisticated equipment that eliminates odours. I can only apologise for this shortfall. Action has been taken to ensure that there is no recurrence.

I am very sorry regarding the lack of follow up and contact you have received since staying with us. I am confident that no ill will was intended towards you and please forward your details to my Personal Assistant Christina.lyons@hilton.com and she will organise our offering to you.

I am sorry for your disappointment and I do hope that we have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel in the future as you have certainly not experienced us at our best.

Best wishes

Stayed numerous times & enjoyed every visit. Staff are always friendly never had any problems with the room. Always stay in the executive plus room which you have free access to the executive lounge where you have free drinks & nibbles. The rooms are spacious & have everything you need in them with lovely views of the city. Recommend cloud 23 for cocktails & an exceptional views. Atmosphere is lovely & peaceful, nice break in the sky! The breakfast is delicious & has everything you could think of well worth the money..

“Amazing experience for the weekend! A pleasure to stay there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

The greeting was warm as I walked in soaked to death from the Manchester rain. When we got to our room, the view was amazing! Went for an executive room so food and drink for the most part was taken care of.
Swimming pool and spa facilities on the 2nd floor are awesome too! Would recommend this hotel to anyone if they want a special few nights in Manchester.

“Great stay in a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed in this hotel on the 3rd february for a Snowpatrol Concert, I have read a lot of reviews about this hotel some good and some bad but I got a great deal for king executive rooms and they came with free food and drinks from 5 till 8 in the executive lounge ( worth it) The hotel was lovely checking in staff were extreamly nice and helpfully and quick. The rooms were great spacious and have floor to ceiling Windows's we were on the 18th floor so our views were to die for, the room was super clean and the bathroom was great with a bath and a separate shower. We could use the facilities in the executive lounge whilst we were there and the view from the 23rd floor was fab. we went up to the cloud 23 bar the cocktails were fantastic and it's definately worth a look and as we were residents we got straight to the front of the queue! The breakfast in the morning was great all you could eat from fruit to full english attentive staff filling your fresh orange up and a limited amount of tea and coffee, we even saw David Platt and Roberto Mancini so the boys were happy!!! All in all this was a really great quality hotel and I would recommend it to anyone oh and the beds were the comfiest I've slept in at any hotel!!!

Room Tip: If you can upgrade or try and get a good deal on an executive room as with the free food and drinks...

“Pleasantly Surprised..”

The boyfriend and I took a trip to Manchester to catch a Manchester United game in April. We were on a budget (we earn the US Dollar!) so decided to take a chance on an unknown priceline hotel priced within our range. We SCORED with this hotel.

First, the location is within walking distance to Old Trafford (Just follow the wave of RED) & is very close to the train! It is a little walk and even shorter cab ride to the near by shopping area & ferris wheel. The hotel itself was GORGEOUS. We dressed up, skipped the line as guests and hung out in the lounge for awhile enjoying drinks before retiring to our rooms. The VIEW was gorgeous, furniture was modern and chic... and WE loved the bathroom & big bed :)

We woke up early for breakfast (priceline came with 2 continental breakfasts) which was delicious. AND we saw EVERTON's squad board their bus in front of the hotel. BONUS! I sure wish I would have known they were staying in our hotel ;)

In conclusion, my boyfriend said it best, "Next time we come to England for a game, let's completely skip London, fly directly into Manchester and stay a few nights at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate." I wish we had more time to explore Manchester.

I almost forgot.. the STAFF was wonderful when we checked in AND when we left our luggage at the Front Desk while we enjoyed the game at Old Trafford!
