We booked to stay here on june 6th oasis night We booked it 8 months ago.. Got to hotel went to reception were told no rooms as they dont deal with agents evivo anymore.so we were stranded and had to drive home after gig which spoilt things somewhat. didnt go in rooms but the place smelled of urine and spices.there was some scruffy looking people mooching up and down the carpetless stairway and hall. outside was shabby and not a very nice area.

“Hostel from hell....not a hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2009

I booked 5 twin rooms in this hell hole. Turned up and it took them 2 hours to tell us we wasnt booked in and that they had no other rooms and the whole of Manchester was fully booked. All 10 of us (stag do) were left stranded.

Had an argument and threats made against us by the landlord, people milling around the place claimed it was a hostel and not even a hotel. The place smelled terrible and was full of youths, Its nothing like the photos.

I wish I'd have checked out the other reviews of place as most of them are spot on.

Im glad they had no rooms as most of my friends would have refused to stay here, even if it was free.

“Don't waste your money here”

Surly unprofessional attitude of most staff .. acted as if they could not care less .. not advised that tea/coffee fixings were available, or where until late on last night of our stay .. and only because we asked if we could borrow a kettle or if they could fill our thermos with hot water .. asked to pay cash in advance for second night stay when confirmation clearly stated balance of payment to be settled at CHECK OUT .. room not cleaned at all and we had to ask for clean towels as there was no bath mat and we had to use one towel on floor as water went everywhere from shower .. advertised as 'luxury' rooms and we were booked into a 'executive double' which was in roof of building up two flights of extremely steep and narrow stairs .. room had no closet and, due to breathing problems at the moment, not suitable for me so were given a standard room on the 1st floor .. unknown black gunk on ceiling as well as cracked and peeling paint on ceiling, no doubt from shower in room above as door doesn't seal well at all and water goes everywhere .. cracks and breaks in tile grout on bathroom floor is dirty and unpleasant .. again no tea or coffee fixing and no sign to advise that beverages available in breakfast room .. menu on room door makes it seem that tea and coffee are free if buying breakfast

A long way from the centre of town and in a not pleasant area so definitely NOT the place to bother spending your money .. mostly because of the attitude of most of the staff .. only one pleasant young man on desk on Saturday night/Sunday morning who was extremely helpful!

“lucky escape”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2009

Booked and paid in full....arrived told not booked in there but at Citi Park....arrived there no record of our booking.....photos are nothing like either hotel. Dirty, smelly, unkept, they both resembled hostels for the homeless and to be honest that is been kind.
Reception areas dark and uninviting, dubious characters walking round the grounds of Citi Mansions and youths playing computer games in an ajoining room at City Park. We ended up getting changed in the car, paying £15 for car-parking, walking round Manchester for 4hrs unable to have a drink with our meal or prior to the show due to having to drive home after...it was our 25th wedding anniversary.....all taken into consideration.....we have lost our money...enjoyed our meal show was brilliant and as titled we had a lucky escape.....but slept in our own clean house, clean bed and enjoyed a home cooked breakfast........

“Don't believe the photos!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2008

The photos of this hotel posted on this and other sites give a false impression - the downstairs area is certainly like that but the rooms are rather tatty and for the price you would expect them to be ensuite and to include breakfast (this is an extra £7!). Also the 'satellite' TV only runs to the basic 5 terrestrial channels, the 'free' wireless internet access costs £2.50 and the hot water (in the shared bathrooms) is rather erratic. Management were very friendly however, and the area, although not the best part of town, is not as iffy as some of the reviews would suggest (I'd still urge caution, though).
In summary, basic, functional, but rather expensive for what you get.

  • Liked — Friendly staff
  • Disliked — Paying through the nose for services that anywhere else would be part of the cost
