I really enjoyed my stay at this premier inn the staff were very friendly especially Dannielle, was very welcoming.

With its proximity to Hattersley and that area's historical notoriety (The Moors Murderers lived and operated around here!), first arrival might seem intimidating and a little bleak. This is because the Hattersley of old, which was a huge over-spill area from the slums of Manchester, is no longer. Instead, a lot of demolition has been carried out, leaving swathes of land being developed, including a new Tesco store right actross the road, and a MacDonalds is close by too. However, the hotel is up to the usual good, no-nonsense standard of Premier Inns. Next door is the Mottram Wood pub where meals are taken, and this is a themed pub which, as the name implies, is complete with trees, wishing well and a bridge over a stream. A little rough-and-ready, but adequate.
All the hotel staff, and the majority of those in the Mottram Wood are very helpful, and very friendly.
My wife and I stay there regularly because of family being near-by.

We needed a hotel for the night on returning from holiday and before visiting friends in the area the next day. After a long, cold, delayed and extremely cramped flight we arrived wearily at the hotel at around 10.00 pm. Dannielle with her wide smile and cheery welcome was just the tonic we needed - we knew we were in safe hands.

The room had all we needed, including hairdryer and kettle/coffee, plus crisp white sheets and a very comfortable double bed. The only slight let down was that we had asked for twin beds but the second bed was a converted sofa. That said, my husband allowed me the big bed yet still had a warm and comfortable night. The double bed was lovely and comfortable, far more so than the one we had slept in for the previous few nights. We heard no noise from either inside or outside during our stay despite the hotel being situated on a large roundabout at the end of the motorway.

On checking out around 9.00 am we were amazed to see that it was again Dannielle on reception. Her welcome was as pleasant and enthusiastic as the night before, she asked if we had had a comfortable night. She is a delight and a real credit to Premier Inn. We didn't get anything like these personal touches when we stayed in a 5 * Hilton Hotel earlier in the week. Premier Inn have got it just right in terms of both service and value for money. As/when we fly out of Manchester airport in the future, and return on a late flight, we will definitely stay at this Premier Inn again. It looks and feels like a new Inn but one of the cleaning ladies confirmed that it was not. As I said to her, it must feel so because it is so clean and well kept.

We arrived late and left relatively early and so did not take dinner or breakfast at the hotel. Instead we grabbed a quick cup of coffee and bacon muffin at the very pleasant McDonald's immediately outside.

This is the 4th time I have stayed during 2011 whilst visiting family. The hotel is great starting with the extremely warm welcome I have had on every visit from the staff. They spend time welcoming my young son who is always given a little treat and he loves our visits.

The price of the rooms are excellent and whilst basic, you know what you are paying for and it is certainly value for money. Having stayed in many hotels throughout the year on business for a far higher rate per night, this Premier Inn maintains a standard of cleanliness that has been sadly lacking in some of the rooms I have stayed in. I have no hesitation in recommending a stay in this hotel.

The big sticking point is the Mottram Wood. I echo the comments of previous reviewers about the food (both dinner and breakfast) being poor quality, the lack of cleanliness, plates left uncleared, service at the bar slow etc etc. On my first visit for 2 nights in April, with family joining me on both nights, we were absolutely appalled by the standard of service, food, customer service and the general 'running' of the Mottram Wood. Despite feedback following every visit (we tend to avoid evening meals now), there has been very little progress in improving any element. My main concern is that in the face of a common voice, and continued comments from customers, that this seems to count for nothing. The standard response to comments from customer is either to ignore the comments or to use a standard response about sharing feedback. I now eat elsewhere and it is a real shame that the hotel is associated with this establishment.

I have booked my next visit over Christmas and needless to say, I will be giving the Mottram Wood a very wide berth.
