“THEY STOLE FROM OUR ROOM! DO NOT STAY HERE.”

Just back from a 3night stay for a man utd match. Room was ok. Alright for the price like. Left for the match on saturday morning. Came back, usual crack, room was all tidied and bins emptied. Didn't notice anything peculiar until about 6pm when I wanted the can of coke I had left on the window sill. Searched the whole room. Cupboards, bags, under the bed, you name it....just to make sure. No sign of it...so we didn't want the room serviced for the rest of the stay. Rang reception twice and no answer (it's the norm in this hotel, stayed here last year too) so in the end we Didn't want it to ruin our break away so said we'l tell them when checking out. Checked out this morning to a lady (name beginning with C) she was looking towards the ground as she approached, I said a friendly hello and she did not look up once while asking me my room number, gave the card and my room number, said thats fine and walked away...I was SOOO angry at this point that I said I'm not going to start a fight at reception. I was waitin for her to ask me how was my stay so I could tell her about the theft. So instead I turned and walked away and said I she wants to be like that well then I'm going to tell everyone the truth about this place. And Britannia, dont use your usual "bull" reply saying "oh if you told us durin your stay we would have resolved the issue" because I rang twice to notify management "to no avail" and wanted to let them know whilst leaving. SERIOUSLY, do not stay here. As bad as any theft is, we are lucky that it's only a can of coke, for you it could be your spending money.

“Rain, Riots and Robbery”

I have held back this review hoping that the manager from hotel would get back to me.....

In August 2011 i was on a David Urquart coach holiday and stayed at the Britannia Airport Hotel. While there i had a DSNintento and a camera tolen from my room. There was no sign of any forced entry so can only assume it was someone who had key for room.
The police were called and i was given crime referance number. As i was going home that day i was advised to call the hotel once i had arrived home. I have tried to make contact with the hotel by calling, e.mailing and writing but no one has got back to me. The only person who showed any concern waqs the housekeeper but she went off sick.
Urquarts did not accept any responsability as i had not taken out their insurance.
I am very dissapointed with the situation and would ceertainly not recomend the hotel to anyone. If anyone does stay there i would strongly advice that you lock any valuables away.
As for the rain and riots that was nothing to do with the hotel.
The hotel in general was what you would expect for the price paid but would not return there if i was going back to Manchester

Room Tip: Close to M6 and Manchester airport

“what a dump!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

this hotel is vile.... tv didn't work in the room, poor maintenance man had to come and change it, need some freeview plasmas.... rooms covered in hairs as per usual for a britannia, had to pay for a private taxi to hotel as i had missed the transfer by 5mins due to a late inbound flight and was told would have to wait an hour for another, then at reception i tried to book a transfer back and he said £5, but if you get return its £5 total rip of, so i paid for my taxi again....meaning a cheap deal was no longer cheap!! i witnessed a group of 4/5 mobs steal from the fruit machine went and told the bar man, he didnt seem overally bothered, bar staff were seen texting on their mobiles behind bar...food was off a good standard which was the only credit to the hotel.. i woke up to 7 bites on my legs from my stay in the hotel, really need to clean the rooms better!!! 3star def not, have stayed in better hostels

“Bed bugs!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Well, they say you get what you pay for, but had envisaged quite what I might not get.

I booked this room via laterooms.com which suggested it was a 3* hotel and that regular pricing was similar to that of Premier Inn, so I was expecting something very basic, but adequate and of course, clean.

The rooms and corridors are in a pretty poor state. Peeling paint from the door frames, 70s fly-tip furniture and old 90's TVs with crummy set-top boxes glued to the top in the rooms. Wallpaper peeling from the walls, badly repaired ceilings. It did appear clean at first glance and the bed was surprisingly comfortable.

Hotel staff were efficient and pleasant (and was the sole reason I didn’t rate this a 1 star), but this hotel is in a really sorry state.

I was unable to sample the 'cooked' breakfast as I had to leave before it was served, so opted to try the 'continental' breakfast. Needless to say, it was pretty poor. I didn't think much of the rubber croissants or sodden muffins. For £5, I knew it wasn't going to be up to much, but original price is £10!?

As I drove out of Manchester, my lower leg started to itch and the itch got worse. By the time I'd gotten to Derby, I got out to see quite what was wrong as saw that my legs had a number of bite marks on it which I can only assume were from some sort of infestation.

Needless to say, I shan't be frequenting this establishment again. I'll stick to Premier Inn!

Room Tip: Walk or drive to this hotel....and keep on going!
