“Excellent Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed at this hotel on a girls night out in a twin room. Room was big enough for the two of us and the bathroom was of a good quality. Beds comfortable with duvets rather than sheets which is great. Excellent location - close to a big car park that only cost £4 for 24 hours. Breakfast was included which was brilliant and a good choice for those wishing to partake. Overall this was a great hotel for a night away - better than some of the Travelodges I have stayed in in the past.

“Surprisingly pretty good value for the money”

Booked at short notice on HotWire and for a cost of around £60 this was great value for money for a one night stay - against other options that we've used in the past. Okay the rooms are quite small and a little thin between the walls, but the room is well fitted with a range of storage facilities, desk area, large shower. Bed and linen pretty decent. Cheap parking opposite (£2.00 per day at the weekend). Would stay here again though for a stay of more than a couple of nights you might want something offering more room circulation space.

Place was clean and tidy, staff very helpful. It do not bother us but do not stay here if you are uncomftable with being in Gay Community. I do not write this to offend anyone who may read it or as a negative. In fact it may be useful for anyone looking for a hotel in a Gay Community. We would stay here again

Thank you for your comments. We are very close to Canal Street, it's just a short walk, and we are extremely central for all areas of shopping and nightlife within Manchester. Thankyou for taking the time to share your feedback.

“Quite impressed, better than your average Travelodge!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I had no input into the place to stay for a recent conference and everything was booked for me. As such I cannot comment on the cost.
It is very close to Manchester Piccadilly train station (8 - 10 mins walk!) It seems to be in the middle of the university but there are very few signs to tell you exactly where it is. First impressions from outside weren't good but once in the building it was quite welcoming (well it would be after suffering the delights of Cross country trains up from Bristol). The reception is on floor 2 which is street level then it goes down to a mezzanine with business centre and a chill out area before going down another level where the restaurant and bar are situated. My room was on the third floor and was fairly compact but then it was a single room. The bed was pretty large and dominated the room but you had everything you needed. TV, Kettle with tea/coffee, a useable desk for work & a decent chair to sit in. Ther was extra pillows and an iron and board (no corby trouser press here! ;-) My only gripe is that free wifi is advertised but this is only in the reception area, it doesn't even extend to the restaurant! If you want to work in your room then reception will lend an ethernet cable but unfortunately my tablet PC doesn't have the right connection for that. Noise control within the rooms was excellant and when I closed my door I didn't here anyone else other than very faintly so a good nights rest was had.
My colleague and I ate in the restaurant and the food was very nice and not badly priced really but there was hardly anyone in there despite there being about 150 clients that night. The waiter that evening was a spanish gentleman and he was very attentive and friendly. The bar was reasonably well stocked and priced so no complaints there. Breakfast was the usual hotel fare but was all good quality apart from the sausage which had a strange taste but that aside everything else was very nice.
I wouldn't say that the staff were unfriendly but they are mainly from eastern europe and whilst they are no doubt very efficient at their jobs, could smile a little bit when talking to you but maybe that's just a cultural thing?
The morning receptionist seemed a little stressed when we checked out although it didn't seem to be that busy. So would I have any reservations staying here again if I came to Manchester? Absolutely not, it seemd to be a well run business class hotel and is certainly better than most of the travelodges that I have ever stayed in. Recomeended, particularly if you're on a budget

Room Tip: I was in room 340 and my colleague had 339 and both had a decent nights stay

Thank you for your great comments. The only concern I have is with the wifi, we have wifi available throughout the public areas and a cable is supplied as standard for the rooms. I will have the restaurant area checked to ensure it is working. Thank you for your feedback, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

“Value for money, excellent service”

having read some of the reviews I was a little worried about this hotel but, as this was the cheapest hotel I could find in Manchester city centre for nye, then my expectations weren't that high. I agree the rooms are a bit on the small side but I don't think that matters, it was clean and had everything we required. Exactly what you'd expect from hotels like these. But what made this hotel so lovely was the warm and friendly staff. Everyone we encountered went out their way to help us and were really welcoming without them being imposing at all and unless we needed anything, we were left alone. We had to book an extra night at the last minute and they were very accommodating. We had dinner in the bar, the bar man was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food wasn't great but never is in hotels like these. I knew what to expect. But it was perfectly edible. No complaints at all, would definitely stay again

To help us improve our standards - I would appreciate more feeedback on the food. To elaborate on whether it is the quality of food, presentation or service provision. The Head Chef has worked hard to improve standards within the Food and Beverage department and all feedback is helpful.

Thanks again for taking the time to leave us your comments.
