Just 2 weeks before we were due to head down to manchester i got an email from them saying 'sorry cant stay here we're closing for refurbishments' You think that they would of know more in advance that they were closing for this refurbishment more than 2 weeks before hand.
And then we had to try and find a new hotel to stay in and they did gives us names of hotels but none of them could accommodate us due to the fact that Take That were playing in Manchester the weekend we were going as this was the reason we were going. They offered to pay the difference in the price but when i told them i could only get ones priced about £200 in the area we wanted to be (i.e easy access to the stadium) they said there are cheaper ones but they were miles away in areas we didnt know.
So i did complain to booking.com where i booked it and the hotel its self. Booking.com got back to me and they dealt with the hotel (oh it was only after booking.com got in contact with the hotel that said they pay the difference)
But we ended up getting a hotel at manchester airport as this was the cheapest option (as we drove from aberdeen and couldnt change our transport as there was no buses etc available at this late stage) So i contacted the hotel again and explain i actually got a cheaper hotel than them and the only thing we thought was far for them to pay for was the transport to and from the airport as we were now further out than we wanted to be, but i never got an answer from them and still waiting for this small compensation we wanted (return fare was about £6 each on the train to manchester city centre so work out that they would only have to pay out £36 to us instead of a couple of hundered) But still have heard nothing
It didnt spoil our weekend and the travelling from airport was ok as brought us right into manchester piccadilly and stadium about 15-20 mins walk from there.
