I booked this hotel via lastminute.com's Top Secret Hotels. When I found out I was staying at the Hilton I was very pleased as I had stayed there before and had enjoyed my stay. Things started well, the free shuttle bus arrived promptly and the driver was lovely, polite, friendly, chatty, the girl at check in was also a credit to the hotel. Things changed however when I got to my room. It was terribly outdated, dull, dreary and dirty. It was in desperate need of refurbishing. The light just inside the door by the wardrobes did not work so I had to open the door onto the corridor outside several times to get some light into the room so that I could work out the rest of the lighting. The desk lamp had no bulb in it. The carpet needed hoovered. All the wooden surfaces were thick dust and I was very childish and wrote 'clean me' on quite a few of them! The hairdryer, which was in a fixed position was nowhere near a mirror so I left the next morning sporting a very wierd hairstyle! The bed was comfy and clean and the bathroom was clean so as I was very tired decided not to complain - I just didn't want the hassle. I did however fill in the comments form and handed it in to a member of staff. I wondered if the Hilton would contact me to address my complaints but as yet I have heard nothing. Perhaps they don't care? Overall it was a very disappointing experience. Why do they let out these rooms when they are obviously sub-standard and definatley not up to their 4 star rating.
