“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in! Ruined my weekend.”

We were shocked to find out that the room hadn't been cleaned, it smelt of smoke and the beds hadn't been changed. It looked like the room had never been hoovered and there was faeces in the toilet! I stayed because it was close to Manchester Academy where I saw a concert but I would never recommend anyone to stay there. Can't believe it is open to the public.

“Decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2010

For what people are writing the hotel isn't that bad, what do you expect from a two star hotel, you wouldn't expect luxuries. It had pleasant staff and they were welcoming. Also it was clean including the bathroom, and even though the hotel looked old fashion, i noticed that their was no dust. Also the rooms were fairly big, enough room for us to get around.
I went for a weekend of drinking and the staff were happy enough to open the door when me and my friends came in at early hours of the morning, so it wasn't like they didn't care. If we had any questions they were happy to awnser them for us.
I would defiantly go again due to the fact that its easy to get to from the city centre also the fact that we felt so comfortable.
If your looking for a posh hotel, i wouldn't recommend here, but just someone were to rest your head for a night or two then this is the place.

“Very comfortable, clean and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2010

I travelled to Manchester with my son for an interview at the university. I read the reviews of this hotel after I had booked a room and was very concerned about the standard of the rooms and emailed the hotel to let them know how worried I was about the comments made by previous guests. Having now completed our visit, I am pleased to say that there was no need to worry. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and was a very good size. We had booked a twin room but were given a triple so the room was much larger than we needed. The bathroom was lovely - again, very clean and looked as if it had been recently refurbished.

All staff were extremely friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay as pleasant as possible.

Although the facilities are quite basic, the rates are also low so I felt it offered value for money. Yes, there is no TV and no alcohol but I knew this before I booked and neither was a priority for this trip, given the short time we spent at the hotel.

Finally, the location was excellent - the hotel was very quiet but only a 2 minute walk from the curry mile and the main bus route into the city. So, overall, a very positive experience and quite different from most of the other reviews - thankfully!

“Dirty and disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2009

we went to a local event in Manchester recently and stayed at this hotel, we could,nt get out quick enough! our room was cold, dirty and smelt of mold. If your looking for anything less than basic then this is the place for you, As someone who works in hospitality i did expect some level of cleanliness and a certain degree of comfort, however Victoria Park seriously lacks both.

“Oh my god!!! Shockin aint the word......”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

The room we got given was a joke dust everywere so we asked to be moved. To our amazment we were shown 3 other rooms that were just as bad if not worse. looked worse than a counil flat. The walls were damp as were the bed sheets myself and my partner left halfway through the night and heded to the nearest travel lodge. i wudnt go there for free if i was a tramp. thats how bad this place is. how on earth its actually open for the public is beond me. so if u dnt mind sleepin in damp beds that smell like they havent been washed since they were bought and wash in very dirty showers this place is for you.
