“... Never Ever Go Here!!”

Had been on a course locally but the hotel I was staying at (Days Inn - which I would recommend) was full for the last night (I had left booking a room to the last minute), so in need of something quick I booked here - was told someone would be there to meet me - so left my course at 5pm - 5 min walk - no one there went to the Rembrandt pub and staff could not be more rude - did not even tell me how to get in contact (no one answered when I knocked on the door) - finally (6.15pm) got hold of someone - they had been out for something to eat; took my monies & gave me a key - promptly ran away; went to the room - WORDS NEVER EVER can say how dirty it was - the bedding had been washed - but I keep my dogs bedding cleaner that that. The carpet DID stick to my shoes - the bathroom; UGH - the mould did however hold the tiles on the wall.

Promptly left the keys on the bed and walked out - it was to discussing!

JUST DONT GO ... even if your after a cheap stay... don’t go here!

“good value for money.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2008

we stayed at the Rembrandt over the week-end of the Labour conference what a mistake that was.
Hotel full of Pretentious idiots thinking they were in a five star hotel and only paying £45,00 per night including full english breakfast.
you get what you pay for.
staff very friendly and helpful. rooms nice and clean and could have been a little larger but no problem as when you are in city centre all you want to do is get your head down for a few hours each night and enjoy the city.
a little noisy as it is in the gay village, full of character and characters and Saturday night buzzing with all sections of the community, straight, gay, bi. etc etc. breakfast staff very helpful and nice english breakfast. in our jobs as Aircrew we normally stay in 4 star but for the money we paid you couldnt get better value for money.
we read some previous reports and just cannot understand what people expect

“This place is {--} Miss it with a Barge Pole”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2008

I stayed at this fleepit of a hotel in september and this place needs to be closed down asap.

Rooms smell of damp , the constant banging of doors, lack of security, as anyone could get into the other rooms. They give you a coffee/tea tray, but no kettle.

I had the unfortunate displease to try the breakfast, and it was a disgrace, asda value sausages, cold bacon, black tomatoes.

Honestly, its better to pay a bit more and get a 1/2 decent room.

“Never again, hell will freeze over first before I go back to that dump.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2008

Well what can I say, within 2 hours of us booking in our room had been burgled. Funny seems there was no forced entry and there was 2 locked doors to get through. Police did turn up and take our details where the reporting PC stated it looked like an inside job as they knew exactly what they were lookin for .
After staying there many years ago I can honiestly say they have let the accomodation go to the dogs, its was dirty, and could of done with a good lick of paint and some new furniture.
Yes it is central to the Gay village but there are better hotels for a few extra pounds close by.
A good birthday present this turned out for me, and my partner who had never been to Manchester before will not be back, which is a shame as I had so much fun many years ago.

“No problems here!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2006

The first thing to remember is that this annexe to the Rembrandt hotel is situated on Canal Street right in the middle of the gay village in Manchester. Yes it was noisy but it was a Saturday night and you can expect a bit of rowdy behaviour from people having a good time visiting the many pubs and clubs in the area.

Check -in was via the Rembrandt Hotel on Sackville Street which meant going into the bar to find the Reception.

All the staff we came across were very friendly and nothing was too much bother.

We had room 22 in the annexe which backed onto Vanilla nightclub and was noisy when the club opened however we found that once the window was closed in the room a lot of the noise was blocked out.

The room was very clean and tidy and tea/coffee was supplied in the room.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer regarding the banging of doors which was a nuisance!

In summary we enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back but again remember the hotel is aimed at gay clientelle and anyone booking there should be aware of that fact.

  • Liked — its location and good value for money
  • Disliked — the banging of doors late at night!
