“Excellent food and comfortable rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Rooms were clean and comfortable, roaring fire to keep you toasty in the bar, but the best thing was the food! Breakfast was outstanding with such a vast choice both in continental and cooked. My colleagues chose the smoked salmon and the slices were extremely generous. My cooked breakfast was also delightful. There was something for everyone and service was excellent. We stayed for dinner one evening too and tried the award winning curries. I had a seafood curry and the fish was cooked to perfection. It was without doubt the best fish curry I have ever had. Chipping Campden is a beautiful area and it was a shame that I didn't get chance to explore it more.

“Great value again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We have returned to the Volunteer again after 3 years and once again being looked after very well for unbeatable value. The room we have was #9 over looking historic high street. Large, spacious and basic but that's all you need if you come to visit Chipping Campden. The pub (below the room) is the place to meet the locals. They very welcoming and got lots of ideas what to do in The Cotswolds. The pub closed before midnight so the noise was acceptable. My husband could not be more pleased as the pub has 4 TV's and shows live football & pint of beer was only £2.50. If you look for luxury this is not place to stay, however if you want clean & comfortable room for good value (we paid £65 for B&B) in pictures Cotswolds you cannot go wrong.

Room Tip: They have two room overlooking Garden far from the pub.

“Great value for this area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Overall enjoyed our stay. Was very busy on arrival with several people deep at the bar, to be honest was a bit of a struggle to get managers attention that we wanted to check in, and that we weren't there to watch the football game. My husband was delighted to find that the bar was showing matches he'd thought he would miss. Rooms pretty average but for this area great value and had a room with two doubles and a single, so pretty much a family room. We had my mother and two children travelling with us. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast cooked to order by the manager. It was absolutely lovely.

Noise from the Indian restaurant was pretty loud up until 11ish. Lovely beer garden with babbling brook and small kids playground. Picturesque village with lots restaurants to choose from. Ideal for one night stay.

“Excellent eating house”

This nice and friendly hotel /pub has a fantastic Indian Restaurant, unlike most local asian eating houses the food is very authentic, Chipping Campden is up there as one of the top four villages in the cotswolds, the others being Broadway, Stow in the Wold and Moreton in Marsh all of which are well worth a visit

Room Tip: Room prices in the Cotswolds range from £70.00 for a good quality bed and breakfast to £400.00 for a...

“Very friendly staff, cozy room, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

We stayed at the end of October. Our room was clean, cozy and warm, overlooking the back garden, there is a nice pub downstairs,Indian restaurant and a beer garden/play area for kids. The staff were very helpful and they treated us almost as family members. We rented bikes and got great tips for local trips.
