“Has potential”

Stayed in January 2012 for a birthday weekend. First, the positives: Very friendly staff upon arrival, Hotel itself designed well and was clean, our room was lovely and as described on the website, the bathroom with underfloor heating and TV in the wall an added treat! Spa was excellent from the staff to the treatments. It was almost the perfect weekend. Unfortunately many things went wrong on our weekend such as late meals and overcooked steak for dinner, breakfast service the absolute slowest I've ever experienced in all my years of travelling around the world and when it finally arrived after much chasing, it was dangerously undercooked. A few other small things went wrong that aren't worth mentioning and upon check out the Manager was very understanding of all the problems and took the issues on board. I only hope that Cotswold House rectifies these issues as for the money it is charging, I could get better service and food at a B&B down the road for half the price. It has the potential to be an amazing hotel in the Cotswolds and it would be interesting to return next year in the hope that they have amended these problems. Almost there Cotswold House!

“Superb!”

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt important, comfortable and looked after. The staff are polite and attentive, nothing seems too much trouble, including carrying luggage, opening doors etc. Log fires were roaring in the lounge and reception. The bedroom was great - a very comfortable bed, armchairs and chaise longue; tea-making facilities include teapot and coffee machine as well as a usable fridge with fresh milk. Daily newspapers delivered to the bedroom are complimentary. The spa is a treat. The town is very pleasant for strolling around with plenty of restaurants and tea shops. We had a totally relaxing and unwinding weekend and would recommend this hotel for a break from the stresses of real living.

“Wonderful Christmas holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Our stay at Cotswold house was a real joy. Five of us ... two adults and three college age kids had two adjoining rooms (accessed via a small vestibule, so we had privacy, yet easy access).

Our stay was over the 2011 Christmas holiday, so we enjoyed not only the regular fare, but also a wonderful Christmas eve dinner, Christmas day "lunch" (if you call a five course meal lunch), and several other holiday meals, all deliciously prepared.

In one case, we missed a meal that would have been a part of our stay, because we had tickets for a play in nearby Stratford on Avon, so the kitchen packed us food to take along. I expected perhaps peanut-butter & jelly sandwiches but what they made for us was a beautifully packaged meal with delicious sandwiches and mincemeat tarts, yogurt and juice. It was a real treat. The other residents at the Hotel and those joining our Christmas Eve dinner, were delightful and interesting people to meet. Fun activities were planned that made the experience warm and festive.

Our experience was all just lovely - the entire staff was so friendly, helpful, and very attentive; they were a really hard working crew. While we ate breakfast, our rooms were cleaned! The house was quiet (even though we had street-side rooms), and the rooms are attractive and comfortable. The drapes are darkened and the beds so comfortable, we requested wake up calls to ensure we didn't miss the wonderful breakfast. It is hard to imagine a better location, central to many things in the Cotswold area - Warwick Castle, Shakespeare's Stratford on Avon, the Broadway Tower, and many hiking trails. The Cotswold House even scheduled a skeet shoot session for us with Rob Ireland, a local gentleman who provided a very fun experience for all of us.

Friends in the states had recommended not being in London for the holidays where many attractions are closed. Cotswold was a wonderful choice. Warwick castle was even open on Christmas Eve! The spa is beautiful and relaxing. One of our members had a facial; it was relaxing, fun and interesting for her due to the helpful analysis of her skin type.

All together, we had a great lifetime memory and have already started to think about how to return ... we're from Washington State in the USA.

“***Would defentely stay again***”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Myself and girlfriend stayed in this beauitful hotel and spa for two nights.
We stayed Hidcote cottage which is located behind the main hotel within the gardens.
The room lovely we had a private garden and hot tub which was fantastic.
The bed was very comfortable and room facilities were perfect.
The food in the resturant is excellent even the locals eat there as they say it's some of the best food around.
The spa is small but is just what is needed with a pool and steam room.
All in all a fantastic stay and would deferntley recommend and return
to.
