We stayed at the Noel Arms Hotel in the quiet period between Christmas and New Year.
The shared areas are very plush, with a mix of modern and antique, open fires, a decent if slightly soulless bar and a nice coffee shop selling croissants and pastries for the morning - good if Cotswold tea shoppes aren't your thing.
The room was fine, but not worth the money we paid for it - they raise the price of superior doubles to £170 a night as a nice little Christmas present to their guests - and this spoiled our experience.
The room was small, the furniture was basic, the bathroom was clean but not particularly well equipped with none of the luxuries you'd expect from a room at this price - just a couple of towels and a small bottle of shampoo/conditioner.
We'd ordered a bottle of champagne for our arrival, but it felt rather silly drinking it in such drab surroundings, and I wouldn't stay there again for this reason.
Rooms are normally cheaper, a standard room is £95 a night, which I think would be a much fairer price for what you get.
We ate at the Eight Bells pub down the road, which I'd recommend for a really good meal in a nice country pub atmosphere. The price was reasonable too.
