“But how do I get in?”

I arrived at the Doncaster Travelodge on a dark and rainy November evening, parked in the services parking area at one end of the Lodge and unloaded my luggage. But where's the front door? Nothing but windows! I trundled my cases down the side, along the back, still no entry.
I returned to my car, reloaded and drove to the other end, which adjoined the service building.
There I saw a small Travelodge sign with faded lettering underneath, - 'Reception >' pointing towards the main motorway services building. It materialised that entry to the Travelodge was in fact inside this building. Please Travelodge, 'Make this more obvious!'
Once inside, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming and told me that she had had the same problem on her first visit.
The room was the usual adequate, but basic, and served it's purpose for the price.
I did not feel especially safe and secure, -there was no code or card security door between the public service area and the accomodation, as in some Travelodges, so anyone could wander through at any time of night and my door would not lock from the inside.
Overall, it was fine and very convenient , - on the motorway , with free parking outside, and a choice of cafes/restaurants adjacent.

Room Tip: My room was the very first past reception on the ground floor. I think there was maybe a staff room...

“Great value for money”

We got this room for the bargain price of £12 and it certainly exceeded our expectations. The room was warm, cosy and clean and, as it faced out over fields at the back, extremely quiet. We didn't hear a single noise from outside or inside the hotel the whole time we were there. It was great being inside the services as I was able to pop out of our room in the morning and get us coffees and hot chocolates and bring them back to the room for breakfast.
Just one thing, I didn't understand why they have fitted baths that are shallow that they hardly hold any water?

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back of the hotel as they are extremely quiet.

“Ok if you can get a cheap deal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Not the best place I've ever stayed, the room needed a refit, some of the furniture was broken, but we only stayed overnight and it was adequate. Set in a busy service station food/drink was limited and expensive but all of that was to be expected from a travelodge on a motorway! Also worth noting that the travelodge is a good 8-10 miles north of Doncaster - closer to Scarborough. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the area I'm sure you'll find better but if you want somewhere cheap to stop off on your way north (or south) it'll do.

“A bit of a let down.....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I've stayed here twice. First time the heater was broken and I repeatedly asked the unhelpful receptionist to look into it as it was freezing in the room - her response was that she was too busy. Broken toilet seat caused wounds to my bottom! Again, staff not interested.

It's convenient, cheap, clean, and most of the staff seem nice. However, there's only five tv channels maximum (first time I only had 1,2 and 5), and prices for wifi are stupendous, particularly when it doesn't work! When it rarely got a signal, it dropped frequently. The bath tub is very shallow so only good for children and both rooms had faulty shower toggles so I was unable to have anything other than a shallow bath. Temp gauge on the bath is dicey - it was scalding hot in both rooms and the cold selection ran so slowly I was forced to fill the kettle repeatedly with cold water to cool it down.

I didn't feel unsafe though like others have suggested and also found it very quiet despite its location.

“You get what you pays for...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Stopped off here after a long days driving and was mildly pleased at the price given to me since everything at motorway services is extortionate.
Was given room on second floor although it didnt make a difference (after all the view is a car park).
Not much in way of amenities, TV was tiny portable thing with poor reception, double bed looked inviting but was very uncomfortable and unforgiving. Pillows flattened with slightest touch.
Bathroom was clean but disappointed that there was the tiniest bar of soap to wash with.
Room didn't feel very secure either with its half-click lock and there was a lot of outside noise.
