“you get what you pay for!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2008

i know you get what you pay for but i would have at least expected the rooms to be clean. instead mould was travelling up the walls. the showers and toilets which were advertising themselves as 'self-cleaning' ( i.e. clean them yourself) should not be attempted without wearing flip-flops or similar. at least the neighbours were quiet - it's right next to the cemetary. the inside of this place is reminiscent of that of a cross-channel ferry. not sure if i'd stay there again. certainly can recommend it if you're there for a night out or go camping on a regular basis....

  • Liked — the showers and toilets for the entertainment value
  • Disliked — the mould on the walls

“For the love of God, STAY AWAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2008

Rooms are dirty and the whole place is run down. Staff members shout obscenities at you when you order. Awful airplane toilets and grotty showers. Naked people walking around corridors. This is worse than even most youth hostels. I walked straight out again and stayed at a Premier Inn. I'd rather die than stay here!! Do NOT be tempted unless your a chav, because there was a lot of them about drugged up out of their eyeballs. Pay the extra for a well known hotel, or drive home, however far away you live (the further the better)!!

“Roughing it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2006

Booked this as a one night stop over. It was a tester to see if £24.95 could get you anything worth having. IIt was clean, but hated the shared w.c and showers which were pretty yuck. Horrible getting up in the night. Beds not very comfy, but then you get what you pay for and it was only £24.95. Pretty noisey through the night - groups of lads coming in late. I certainly will not go to a Formule 1 again.

It is certainly worth paying the extra £20 to go to a Travel Inn or similar.

Felt like a Youth Hostel or something. If you need a cheap bed for the night and are not particularly fussy about where you stay then this will be fine.

Also the reception is only manned in the morning and then 5-10pm, so you cannot just book over the net and turn up when you like. Make sure you ring them if you are arriving in the aft of the middle of the night and pay over the phone so you can get a code to get to your room.

“Doncaster F1 Hotel Ten Pound Walk”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2006

Contrary to the other reports on this place I have stayed in this place a few times both with friends and then with the family. It has easy access when you come off the motorway & into Doncaster so good for being close to town & many facilities..

The rooms are basic but good value for money at between £20 - £25 per night for up to three people it is very cheap but ok if you are on a budget..

The showers & toilet facilities are outside your hotel room and a bit of hassle for you to go out of your room in the night which is a small price to pay

The downside for some may be that there is no breakfast facilities but there are plenty of places nearby to get food at a great price

Yes the cemetary is next door but g'tees no noise hassle in the middle of the night !

Can be a little noisy in the week if the contractors are in but no more than in a normal hotel - clean bedrooms and advantage of value for money

There are seedier / rougher places in Doncaster trust me lol... We stayed in one hotel nearer town that had ladies of the night outside it touting for business..

No problems in recommending it x

“You get what you pay for”

Where as it is true that the hotel overlooks a cemetry it is very quiet!! You basically get what you pay for and at £20 per night for up to 3 people you do not expect Ritz standards. The toilets and showers were perfectly clean on the occasions that I have used this hotel and the rooms are small but clean and tidy. The area where the hotel is situated is not as bad as the other report states but walking around after dark is not a dangerous pastime.
