“No sleep”

Nice interior and staff seemed friendly enough. Unfortunately I am 7 months pregnant and was not able to get any sleep as I was assigned the room above the function room that had loud music until 1am followed by the constant moving of furniture. Really disappointing, didn't get a wink of sleep and left without having breakfast as just wanted to get home!

“Feeling Jaded”

I attended an afternoon function and booked a superior room for the night of 12th Nov 2011.
The main course in the afternoon was poor but the worst was still to come. It was Saturday night and there were two evening functions at the hotel. I went to bed at 1130 thinking the noisy music would finish by midnight at the latest. I was wrong. It continued until 2am and it was impossible to get to sleep. If guests book a room for a nights sleep, they expect to get a nights sleep and not be kept up until 2 am by the noise of other functions in the hotel. If such functions can be heard in guests bedrooms the bedrooms should not be booked out for sleeping purposes.

Room Tip: Make sure there are no functions on the night you book a room. You will hear the constant banging al...

“Dont judge a book by the cover”

Once inside this is the beautiful hotel. The Art Deco is gorgeous. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. If you hit the right night, like we did, you can enjoy a romantic meal ( the food is excellent, as is the service) whilst the piano is played in the background. The second time we enjoyed a motown night in the ballroom. The rooms are beautiful. Breakfast is standard. We are booked in again in December for another superb stay

“weekend away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

the staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was full english if you wanted which was very nice. the evening meals which are served in the resturant [we chose the steak with bottle of wine] the decor is art deco and really really nice sevice was spot on, very attentive without being annoying. The rooms were a decent size with a massive comfortable bed pure heaven
Now for the downside the lighting in the bedrooms as i'm nearly 60 i need all the help i can get with my makeup and no matter were i went in the room or the bathroom there was not a decent light to be found. I mentioned it to the staff and they are aware of it and are planning to put it right. I would definatly return. Within walking distance of town centre which was very nice with a large market and shopping centre.

“Unique Art Deco Hotel”

Upon arrival was greeted by a friendly receptionist who was very efficient, but unfortunately the Pre-authorisation for the room could not be made using Amex, but I was told I could use another card for the authorisation and then use my Amex it pay. had a lovely dinner at a very reasonable price in a deserted restaurant. I would recommend the sausage and black pudding mash. The room was beautiful with an enormous bathroom and huge bed. Air conditioning unit was very loud but in October we didn't need it anyway.. Breakfast was also very nice. Unfortunately the only problem was that I went to check out I discovered that the Pre-authorisation wasn't a Pre-authorisation at all, and that my card had been debited. So I Would recommend this hotel to anyone... Provided you don't want to pay by Amex.
