“Great value, homely B&B”

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at Buckland Lodge and will be returning! :) We were greeted by a warm welcome and the owner is friendly and chatty and happy to advise on the local area. Our room was clean and comfortable and we remarked on the lovely Polo Ralph Lauren bed sheets! Room had tea and coffee making facilities, TV with freeview and free Wi-Fi.
There is a selection of cereal and toast, tea/coffee and orange juice for breakfast plus a freshly cooked full English.
Great value at £54 for a double room and well located too! See you again soon.

“Welcoming, accommodating and a good breakfast”

We visited Leamington Spa to attend a gig at the Assembly Rooms and this B&B proved to be ideal for our stay. On arrival, we were able to park off-road at the back of the house and, on entering, were greeted by a lovely smell of lilies, which were on the reception desk. OK, the bedroom was basic, but it was clean, with a comfortable bed and a shower room that was small but served its purpose (the soap and shampoo/showergel were good quality and plentiful). There was no hairdryer, but there was a small flat-screen tv and tea/coffee-making facilities. The free wi-fi worked fine. Our host directed us to the Assembly Rooms, which were only a short walk away and suggested a couple of nearby pubs (we chose the Jug & Jester, a lively, friendly Weatherspoons). On our return, we tried sleeping with the window open, but there was a lot of noise from passers-by and (possibly student) neighbours, so we gave up and shut the window, which made a huge difference - no noise at all. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. My husband had the full English and I had scrambled egg on toast - perfectly cooked. We were meeting friends for lunch and our host invited us to wait in the sitting room (very comfortable), although it was after check-out time and was kind enough to let us leave our car on the premises until mid-afternoon. All in all, a good value, centrally-located B&B with a great host.

“Shabby and tired, great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

Warm and friendly host. Great location with free parking. Room was very shabby and need of decoration, bathroom had no shower, an over the bath shower hose would have sufficed.
Beds were comfortable with clean, although old bedding.
The breakfast was first class, the owner rattled through the choices maybe it would have made sense to have guests pre order breakfast the evening before to avoid the ping of the microwave! Having said that, the coffee was first class and he served the tastiest sausages we have had in a long time at a B&B.

“Fairly grotty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

We stayed here one night - and we almost didn't last that long. The double room we'd booked turned out to be a twin with very small beds and not much space in the room.

The shower was exceptionally basic, so much so that neither of us wanted to use it. The toilet seat was dangerous! And the general decor of the bathroom especially was very tired and clearly in need of a fresh coat paint.

The bedroom seemed reasonably clean, although the dead spider hanging on the wall just above one of the beds was off-putting, and the holes in the wall could have been repaired.

We decided against breakfast, as we felt it may be of a similar standard to the rest of the hotel, e.g. past it's sell by date. And a time window on a Sunday morning of 8 am - 9 am is designed more for the benefit of the owners than the guests
