I spent 2 nights at Bartle Hall with my wife while we were visting the area in January. My overall impression was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly and though we hadn't planned to we ate both nights in the restaurant (having enjoyed it so much the first night!) The hotel itself was very clean and appeared to have been refurbished recently to a high standard. Our room (the Goosnargh room) was a little small but comfortable all the same with its own terrace, walk in wardrobe and large bathroom. Again, the bedroom was very clean and immaculately presented. I think the normal room rate is £140 which is perhaps a little steep but we paid £70 (I think a promotional price) which was excellent value considering it incuded a very splendid breakfast. I can't really recommend this place highly enough. I would stay again without hesitation.

This is a beautifully furnished, small and intimate hotel in a quiet location. The room had a four poster bed, beautifully decorated, heavy curtains, a luxury bathroom with corner bath and separate shower. Toiletries are included in the bathroom. I stay in Preston on a regular basis for my work and this is the best value for money I have found. The food in the restaurant/bar was of an excellent standard with a choice of fish, vegetarian, chicken, steak and burgers if you werent so hungry. The breakfast is freshly squeezed juices, cereals, fresh fruit, pastries and hot tasty cooked breakfasts. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The best bit is the price, which is the most competitive in the area. You can stay in this small luxury country hotel for the same price as budget chain hotels. You do need a car to get here as it is a little out of the way, but to me that is part of its charm.

We held our wedding here in Nov 2011. We did book quite far in advance as well. On the day (and the day before) I cannot fault the service. The staff were fantastic. I must give a big shout out to Hayley and Hannah. Hayley looked after us the night before and the morning of the wedding and my Nana - who is sadly no longer with us said that Hayley made the best cup of tea ever!! Hayley was fantastic and was very understanding and patient with us - not an easy task as nearly all the wedding party work in the industry, my self and my 2 grown up bridesmaids as well as the groom, best man and usher. The morning of the wedding Hayley was fab in making sure the cake was all set up when it arrived, that the flowers were where they needed to be etc. We got back from church and while having pictures taken Hayley introduced us to Hannah who would look after us through the Wedding Breakfast and Evening Reception. Hannah was equally wonderful, making sure the correct meals got to the correct people (there was a lot of dietary requirments). My new husband couldnt rave enough about the food (he's a chef and hates my cooking so well done to the Bartle Hall kitchen team). I had a few reports since the wedding of some surly bar staff and unfortunatly my uncles car was broken into in the back carpark. The police think this was an opportunist passing by the back lanes. There was a couple of billing errors on the morning after the wedding that I understand was due to a system error - these were quickly fixed when I pointed them out. The only niggles that I had were that the wedding co-ordinator, we found is quite difficult to get hold of - when ever we emailed for her attention it was always one of the girls on the front desk who emailed back. Dont get me wrong our questions were always answered. Also the wedding co-ordinator wasnt on shift during our wedding - not something that I would expect as every wedding I have ever worked has had the wedding co-ordinator in attendance. We would have also liked to pay our final bill on check out but this had to be forwarded onto us - not major. All in all we had a fantastic day and night, the rooms were all lovely and the ground are fantastic for pictures. Thank you Bartle Hall for making our wedding day so special. I really appriciate that as a hotel you have a lot of weddings to look after but the fact that you made us seem like the most important people in the world is not always an easy task - you did it with fabulousness. We had our Christmas party evening here in mid December. We were a party of 21 all doctors, nurses and admin staffl. The evening was an all inclusive package and was very good value for money. From the moment we arrived we were treated so well by the staff and were very pleased that we weren't crammed in like sardines which sometimes happens when you have these organised type evenings. The food was absolutely beautiful and I could not fault anything about it at all. There was bucks fizz on arrival, wine on the table during the meal and a free bar until midnight. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone thinking of organising this type of evening.
