“nothing special but worth a look...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

Probably the best thing about the hotel for us was the free use of swimming pool and jacquzzi as my hubby suffers from a bad back and he found this to be quite soothing in the mornings when it tends to be the most stiff. The staff were pretty decent too as young chambermaid, called josy, helped us with our luggage up the stairs and even showed us to our room. We chose to dine out in the evening as hotel menu was not really our type of cuisine but we did eat breakfast on our second morning and were pleasantly suprised. Only bad points we could find were: room was ice cold in mornings and through-out day but we were given extra blankets and it warmed up around 6pm. We had to wait for staff to come to reception each time as they seemed to always be working elsewhere and carpets looked as though they had seen better days. We did enjoy the atmosphere and staff always pleasant so worth considering again...

“Worst Hotel I've stayed in!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

I was booked into a different hotel, but when i arrived they had overbooked, so suggested the Swallow which was just along the road. This hotel is terrible and if it had not been 10.30 at night when i arrived, i would not have stayed. From the half-lit sign outside to the shabby reception area, it was not a good start. When i got to my room, i discovered the walls had dampness on the them (The corners were all black and mouldy). The carpet had stains on it, the front panel was missing off the TV, the seal around the bath was all black and mouldy, the cistern came away from the wall when i sat on the toilet and the shower was loose on the wall. THIS IS A HORRIBLE HOTEL. I was in the area visiting a very large company who use a lot of hotels in and around Preston and I will be suggesting the never use this hotel. Only positive thing i can say is that the staff were very pleasant.

“Amazed at how this hotel has a 3 star rating”

Stayed with my husband and two grandchildren for 3 nights. The hotel decor is shabby and the rooms were no better. Carpets torn and wallpaper falling off in places. The bathrooms were dirty, we found hairs in the bath plughole and had to reclean the toilets. No soap had been left in either of our two rooms. Breakfast was adequate but lacked a good choice of cereals, no fresh or tinned fruit. The hot breakfast bar was not checked to see if the ingredients needed replemishing. Definitely would not stay again.

“can only be described as faulty towers!!!!!!”

Very few photos on line and they must be about 15yrs old. only good thing was that the Bedlinen was clean. everything else awful. Not many staff, bathrooms damp and looked like there had been a bad flood/overflow as skirt boards and door were all discoloured and warped. cobwebs that were collapsing due to the dust on them. Paint and wallpaper was peeling off. Outside of hotel the paint and wooden fascias were all peeling off badly. Food not great, took ages, very disorganised. Everyone else thought the same. It was so bad that we all had to laugh about it otherwise there would have been a flood from all our tears!!!

“Awful - Do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2010

This hotel is nothing like you see on the internet. It is dirty, run down and not worth the money. It would be wiser to stay in a tent - cleaner for definate. There was dirt everywhere - toilet was disgusting, doors, sink,- just everything about this hotel was wrong. It should be closed down. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
