“Don't book this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

On checking out we were informed the company was in administration which explains why the place looks like it hasn't had a refurb for god knows how long!! The rooms were less than substandard with mould on the walls and heavily stained carpets. They also had a damp odour and the wood skirting boards were rotten. There were numerous spider's webs which were covered in dust. The staff were ok but looked resigned to the fact that most visitors would find the place unacceptable. I couldn't wait to leave.

“AWFUL, AWFUL,AWFUL!!!!!!”

Room dirty and smelt, transferred to another, not much better. Mold in room, curtains torn and dirty. Carpet stained, bathroom full of mold and dirt. We were on top floor and roof leaked onto the bed in the middle of the night. No porter to be found so hence little sleep.
General state of hotel run down and dirty.
Food was okay, staff were fine and trying to do their best which can't be easy.

PAY EXTRA AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!

“Worst Hotel I Have Ever Stayed In”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011 via mobile

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The hotel does not look like it does on the photos one bit. It is very old fashioned and everything costs, wifi is not free it is £2.99 for half an hour! Signal is rubbish, if you phone anyone it's very crackly. the worst thing was the hallway. At night, when people walk down the corridor, the floorboards creak really badly. I am a heavy sleeper and even with earphones in I can hear the floorboards. I DIDNT SLEEP ONE MINUTE! In fact I came back from my holiday after one night becase we couldn't sleep. All you can hear is water running, floor boards creaking, traffic going past and people in the rooms next door snoring! The views are rubbish, you either overlook a road or a brick wall. Not a nice view at all. My stay here was not pleasant at all even little things annoyed me, the toilet didn't flush except after trying five times, but sometimes it didn't flush at all. The tv was rubbish. Everything needs updating URGENTLY! The food is quite nice but there is not much choice for vegertarians and if you need a specialty diet, like I do, then it is not good. The pool is very small and very cold, and when you get to the other side you bang your knees on the floor because the pool is in a U shape.

“Hotel needs a refurb but our stay was ok.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

As I live in Preston my review may be a bit bias.

My first visit to this hotel was in the late 70s.which in those days was a smart hotel.

Last August we attended a wedding at this hotel and stayed the night. The special rate was £50 for two people B&B.

As other reviews say it needs more than a lick of paint but if you look beond this the hotel was not that bad.
Our room had the cosmetic faults but did not make our stay any worse for this. The bar and lounge area was ok no problems with that.

The full english breakfast was good a bit limited in some areas though.

If your on a budget this hotel could be worth considering.

I hope they refurbish the hotel then it would have a lot going for it.

“Lancastrian Faulty Towers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011

Dark, dank, empty, place. OK if you like hunting around the reception and corridors for someone to check you in...

Needs a lick of paint everywhere and some higher wattage (low energy) light bulbs.

Suggest to pay an extra fiver for the usual brand budget hotel.
