“A Hotel With Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I had an excellent stay, the food was great and well priced, I was a bit disappointed in regard to the lack of attention at breakfast, however, I will forgive this due to the excellent service the evening before.
WIFI is very expensive and should be in with the room rate, this is not the cheapest hotel in the area.
Well done to the staff, I will stay again.

Room Tip: Exec Rooms are very good.

“Preston's best”

There is little choice for anyone needing to stay in or around Preston and this is probably as good as it gets. Standard four star hotel with decent bar and adequate restaurant.
Stayed for one night in November in a suite which was one of two available. Very nice except for the windowless sitting room. Lovely big bathroom with decent shower over the bath.
Ate dinner in the bar from the restaurant menu. Plainly cooked. Adequate. Service was a little slow but the ambience and decor were elegant and warm. Reception staff were good. Breakfast was self service and plentiful.
The hotel is not in the city but close to junction 32 of the M6. A good location. Plenty of parking, nice grounds and quiet. A well kept and well run hotel.

“The best stay at this hotel in 25 years”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We have stayed at the Preston Marriot many times over the last 25 years, even before Marriot bought the hotel. However, our last visit was probably the best we remember. We stayed in the period between Christmas and New Year and there were not many guests. We were given rooms in the old part of the hotel, maybe because we got a deal on Expedia. These rooms are smaller than the newer part of the hotel which are more like the corporate Marriot style. The best part of the stay was the way we were treated by the staff, they were very friendly, helpful and professional, this might be because Marriot has good training but it could also be that the hotel is in the North of England where people are naturally more friendlier. The breakfast was good and fresh with plenty of choice. This was a huge difference to a stay we had a few years earlier when we had a very nice large room. However there was a charity event in the hotel and the room opposite ours was being used as a meeting room. When the party finished the people from the party who wanted to keep the party going used the corridor outside our room, the night staff tried to stop them, but we did not get any sleep that night. So it might be worth checking if there is an event going on in the hotel if you want to be sure of a peaceful stay.

Room Tip: If you book online, either directly or through an agent, phone the hotel after and ask about the roo...

“Business Hotel with insane Internet charges.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

This hotel is predominantly business orientated. I think they are using the fact that Companies pick up the tab on the Internet and are taking advantage of that. They have a system where you have to pay access for each device, rather than the room. If like most folks you have a Company laptop, iPad and Phone, it works out to about £225 for a week of access! In other hotels I've been in who run a similar system, you are OK as long as you use one device at a time only. This isn't an option here according to the Staff.

I checked out after 1 night and moved to a better hotel with free Internet!

“No thanks I can't recomend to my friends...”

The hotel is located in a nice spot and is a lovely building from the outside. Indide a diferent history...It doesnt have a nice warm atmosphere .The leisure center is located in a corner of the building, there are 2 options to get there: from the outside,a cold passage way or from the inside, through the resturant. Ridiculous... As after swimming or sauna and wet hair it's not pleasant to get the cold wind or walk by the customer having dinner ... In the middle of the tables...sorry ! But i just think it needs a glass passage(it's not a big deal but will do a lot for us customers).Bedroom is ok good king size very comfy but again old dirty carpets, toilet is very old and doesnt flush very well. Bath tub/shower with terrible plastic curtins ... Breakfast was good but slow service. Car park had a dangerous tree lining towards the cars. Very nice building but needs special care urgently.
