Stayed two nights for business purpose and the promise on the website (pics, 4 stars etc.) was never delivered. The walls are paper thin, every sound from the outside corridor and other rooms could be heard, the room was tidy, but furniture worn out. The breakfast charge was disgusting: £14.95 per person, compared to what was actually a very basic continental breakfast. Even the breakfast at Premier Inn's are better! In addition, being a 4 star hotel I would expect some level of service and when accidentally leaving a book I learned when ringing them that it would cost £5 to get it sent back. No thanks, I'll rather order it again. And no thanks, will never stay again and will not recommend it to anyone. Will go for the big chains instead, at least you know what you are going to get.

I would just like to say how impressed I was with the staff at the St John's Hotel. They were all so helpful, polite, going the extra mile to ensure that our stay was as pleasant as possible. The food was superb and very fairly priced. We had a party of 100 staying for dinner and the service was impeccable, all courses served at the same time so we were all able to eat our dinner at the same time and hot. Breakfast was great and again, a fabulous and prompt service. It was excellent.

We booked this hotel as it seemed to be one of the better packages around, it was awful!! The food was terrible and the length of time waiting was unacceptable, sit down at 19:30 starters came at 20:20 which consisted of half a bowl of tomato soup or a very poor portion of pate, then they cleared starters, main course came at 21:00 only served half the table, the main course looked like it had been reheated a week ago then given another blast!!! They cleared that but still left side plates cracker rubbish the dessert came again half the table got it absolute shambles, they came round with coffee before clearing the dessert plates!!! For just under £30 per head you expect better, the only plus note is it nicely decorated inside!!

Really disappointed with overall experience, room was not well cleaned which for me is a real turn-off and only discovered this fully when we returned from dining out about 9.30pm with children desperate to go to bed. Items found on the carpet within easy reach, someone's pink medication tablet (and with a toddler in the room!!!), both pairs of someones false eye lashes, 2 hair
grips and hairs all over the place, all clearly visible, didnt dare move furniture. Had to give bathroom a once over myself with dettol wipes. Sheets looked clean otherwise would have made a big fuss. Minibar is empty fridge! Redeeming factors was swimming in the pool which was lovely and quiet. Breakfast was ok and staff were generally helpful. Reception was a bit slow and not particularly friendly or efficient. Not quite the 4 star experience we'd looked forward to.
