I occasionally stay at this hotel on business nearby and would do so more often if they made some improvements.
It's very close to the motorway so you get a fair amount of traffic noise one one side of the hotel - it's well worth asking for a room on the other side. Parking is free and you can easily walk across the road to the Village Inn or next door to KFC.
It is a fairly standard Holiday Inn Express with an open plan lobby seguing into a smallish but functional bar / breakfast area. There is often only one staff member front of house, manning the reception and the bar, so sometimes you have to wait a while to check in or to buy a drink. Customer service is pretty non-existent - it feels very anonymous there and you get no warm welcome at check in or friendly enquiries about your stay at check out. As a PC Rewards club member I am sometimes given a voucher for a half price drink at the bar.
The rooms are decent sized, nice and clean, comfortable enough beds. The televisions in the rooms are not flat screen and there is a very limited range of channels (and those they do have are wrongly labelled). An ethernet internet connection is available for £4.95 per 24 hours or you can get a package including 'premium' TV too I think. There is no in-room wireless so ipod / ipad / kindle etc users would have to go without or use the wifi in the bar area (also chargeable).
The breakfast is basic but OK as long as you avoid the nasty chemical tasting orange juice from the machine and the dubious sausages.
In summary this hotel could be pretty good if the staff were trained in how to make customers feel valued, they offered free in-room wifi and used fresh good quality ingredients for breakfast.
