“Very comfortable stay-only a Minor quibble”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed here with my boyfriend as he had a job interview, and the company booked us a room as we travelled a long way. Room was warm and comfortable despite being minus 2 outside! Breakfast was nice, although I felt we were a little hurried as we didn't go down til 9.15. The food was cleared immediately at 9.30, so no option of getting cooked food after cereal and fruit! Only problem we had was that we were woken by housekeeping knocking on the door at 8.20am! Check out isn't until 12noon, so I thought that was terrible. I mentioned it to the receptionist on check out and she was most apologetic.
Overall lovely stay, staff very pleasant and would stay again

“Good quality hotel, minor quibbles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

This hotel ticked many boxes for an overnight stay while working inside the M25, west London. A nice, warm welcome and a good sized, comfortable room. Given I'd asked for a "superior" I wonder how small a standard room would be as the room was pretty much a bed, table and a chair. The en suite was a shower only which was a shame but it was finished well and very clean.

I visited the gym twice which was well equipped, especially when compared to some other hotels with "leisure clubs" which are no more than an old bedroom with a bike and treadmill in. Pool was a good size also. I did get lost on the way to and from the gym each time though - no signs whatsoever.

Bar was good as was the food. The lady who was serving that night (16th January) was as surly as a nightclub doorman though. I felt like she was looking down her nose at me whenever she spoke, especially to the gentleman next to me who asked to return his off-looking beer. Surely you don't question someone when they make a complaint, you just exchange the beer or ask if they'd like something different, as well as offering an apology. Also, don't tell me to return my menu to my table after ordering food. In fact, don't even ask me to, do it yourself!

A quick tip for the hotel would be to turn the radiators up in rooms, especially when it's sub-zero outside. My room didn't properly warm up till around midnight

Anyway, they're just minor quibbles for what is otherwise a good hotel which is great value for money

Room Tip: Not sure if all en suites are shower only, so if you need a bath make sure you specify

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your valuable comments and review. We take on board all feedback form our guest’s that have visited the hotel, and I have read your comments in detail.

Thank you for the comments about the room, leisure club and also the bar and food. I have taken note about the bar team member and passed on your comments to the bar manager and asked that the team member working is retrained in our customer care programme.

We have also asked that the radiators in all rooms be turned up so that the room warms up earlier.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Mercure London Watford very soon.

Regards

“My second home!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

When I stared a new job in June this year I knew that I would need to stay in this area regularly.
I tried several hotels in the area but keep being drawn back to the Mercure. I now often stay at least one and sometimes three nights per week!

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable - the TV's need updating! The resturant is a welcoming experience even for a single diner. The soup is always great! The quality of the food and the sevice is very good. Breakfast is self service and has a good choice. The waiting staff are very frendly and always seem happy in their work.

Be prepared for a bit of a walk to your room as some of the corridors are very long! Security is the only issue as a colleague had his room broken into and lost some very expensive cameras!

Free Wi-Fi would be a bigger draw for me. The pool and spa are great - very clean.
I would recommend this hotel - but you really need a car!

Although the room rate was ok the £12.50 each for ham,egg & chips followed by 2 breakfasts costing a total of £27.80 left a nasty taste in the mouth....

“Pleasant Business Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

I remember this place as the Ramada but it was taken over my Junipter Hotels and branded Mercure however everything still operates as a ramada. This was a pleasant stay. Plenty of parking, quick and easy check in, comfortable room, good food, express checkout. What more could you want on a business stay? The hotel is slightly worn, but things are clean. I got an upgrade studio room which I've come to expect as a frequent ramda visitor which was fine, but it felt like miles from the reception! A hotel that is easy to get lost in as everything looks the same, signs are tiny but not a massive issue. Room service was excellent, I ordered a burger which was very good indeed and arrived super quick. I did order the express check out but nothing arrive so spent 5 minutes fussing in the morning which I prefer to avoid. Competition in the area is fierce, an almost new De Vere Village is just up the road, which is pretty fantastic and I'm afraid to say where I normally stay. I'd stay here again if they are fully booked.

Room Tip: If you don't fancy a hike, request a room close to reception.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comment regarding your stay within Mercure London Watford.
I am pleased that you overall enjoyed your stay with us here but would like to apologise that you did not receive your express check out.
We are undergoing a transfer to the Accor family and would like to advise that our front office team have now been re-trained in all aspects of service, and all have been 'refreshed' on the check out procedure's to ensure this does not happen in the future.
I hope that you will stay with us again very soon, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Mercure London Watford.
