“Not what I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012
1
person found this review helpful

Having arranged this as a Valentine's treat for my husband, I booked the Honeymoon Suite, was disappointed that it was just an over large room, with a very small sofa in it. The breakfast was disappointing, the sausage tasted of bleach and everything was swimming in grease. The bathroom was freezing cold. The staff were very friendly and helpful but we will not be returning.

Dear Annie
Thank you for taking the time to write a review about out hotel
It has come as a surprise to read of your thoughts about the Honeymoon suite. I have spoken with my reservations manager and she recalls you mentioned the photos upon our website at the time of booking which is why she allocated that particular room to you
As bleach is not allowed on the premises what so ever, we have contacted our local butcher who supply our sausages who have assured us that they also have a bleach free working environment
I am so sorry that on this occasion we did not live up to your expectations, especially on such a special weekend as Valentines

“Hotel is ok food not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stay here every 3 months or so on business. the hotel is dated but very quiet. the rooms are comfortable but can be very hot. The food is not very good in either the bar or the restaurant. It is never seasoned meaning it is generally bland and fails to live up to the expectations from the menu.

I always find the staff are friendly and generally helpful

“Good location for town centre but could do with a bit of TLC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011 via mobile

Stayed here to go see a TV show being filmed at Maidstone Studios. Was good central location.
Room was very small for a double and could have done with a bit more thorough cleaning ( hairs on bathroom floor, stained toilet seat, marks on curtains).
It was fine for a short stopover but wouldn't recommend for weekend away.
Staff were ok buta bit short and not overly helpful.
Breakfast was nice, smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast. Could have done with a bit more offering on the continental buffet.

A very smart hotel, clean and cosy. Breakfast was a nice array of items. Rooms were cosy and smart with lots of nice extras i.e. a sewing kit and a mini cosmetic kit (cotton pads, cotton buds, nail file).

“A headache from the start!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

When you enter the lobby of the hotel, it is pleasing to the eye, Reception staff were ok - not english, but could understand her.
When I entered my room thats when the disappoint began, the room smelt strongly of moth balls and paint, the paint was obviously trying to cover up the damp smell but just made it ten times worse! The decore was poor, bathroom wasn't clean, very dated, mould around the grouting in the shower, then when I went to have a shower it was cold, there was no choice of turning the forcet to get the water hotter or cooler, it was just one temperature which was cold!
The carpet was flithy, with what looked like bleach or paint stains on the carpet also. I left this hotel very disappointed and with a headache from the fumes of the paint!

Dear Gemma, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your recent stay. Please accept my sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations on this occasion. We are constantly working to keep the hotel in good decorative order, although we never let rooms on the night this work has taken place. We did unfortunately have a boiler malfunction on the morning of your departure; the faulty part has been replaced and I am pleased to say it is now working to full capacity. I have also personally inspected this bedroom with the housekeeper. Once again thank you for your comments.
