“Very very average!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed here for a 3 day conference. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere so I can't imagine any other reason for staying there. The rooms were okay and spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable enough but the pillows were too soft so I slept badly. On the first day I complained that the room safe was locked and I couldn't use it. It was never fixed. Also the housekeeping services were not the best. I was left with a partial toilet roll and no replacement evident. I had to actually ring reception to bring me a replacement. A large lamp in the room with a silver base was dusty on my arrival and this never changed. The hotel had very poor free wireless internet access in the lobby and mobile phone reception had poor signals. This reminded me of being in a developing country but I was in the UK. If you wanted to pay for internet access in your room, it was £15...a rip off. On a positive note, the restaurant food was okay with excellent servings, a nice buffet spread for breakfast and lunch. Dinner had to be preordered. In the conference room, my only complaint was that the water on the tables wasn't replaced during breaks. If you are not staying here for a conference, I wouldn't stay there.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors and away from the reception area are best.

“A bit basic for a Hilton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

Firstly all the staff were very helpful and very polite.
The hotel itself is a bit basic for a Hilton and very much reminds you of a posh Ibis however this was reflected in the very reasonable price.
Breakfast was ok however food seemed as though it had been sat under the lamps for quite a while and it was only 7:30 when we got there.
My main downer was £9:50 for a double vodka and coke. You do expect to pay more but that was just greedy.

Prob would give it a miss next time

“Dated and past its best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for a couple of nights on business. Friendly staff. Rooms are very dated, no aircon in what are even in winter very warm rooms. Emergency exit door was constantly propped open onto a lawn which gave me security concerns - the door stated that it was alarmed but clearly not. Breakfast was plentiful but bland bland bland. Parking is good. No wireless available in rooms and in general areas only openzone. Is available. Will try and find somewhere better next time.

Dear Claudiawirral,

Thank you for providing me with your comments on your stay at the hotel and your kind comments about the team.

I am delighted to say that we now have wifi available throughout the entirety of the hotel.

I will certainly reiterate to the team for the need to ensure exterior doors are even more regularly checked, and closed if found open.

Once again thank you for your feedback and I hope that you will stay with us again in the future.

Kind regards,

Chris

“Relaxed and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I had to go to Milton Keynes for a Saturday meeting, so was staying overnight Friday with a fairly early start on Saturday. The welcome at check-in was warm and friendly. Dining on one's own can feel a little awkward, but the restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful and the whole think felt fine, although I would have liked a slightly more adventurous menu, with more healthy choices on it. Breakfast was another matter, with a fantastic choice of healthy and otherwise items on the buffet.

My room was comfortable and clean, with some rather nice toiletries. The bottled water in the room was extortionate, but there was a label on the bottle warning of the price.

For me the best thing, though, was that the swimming pool was open at 6.00am on the Saturday morning, so I was able to have a swim before breakfast and still leave on time for my meeting.

For the price, this is definitely a hotel to be recommended.

“Could have done better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Booked Quen Junior Suite through Hilton website only to be told on arrival that there was no rooms available. Was offered standard room and small discount (eventual discount smaller than what was offered). Room I got was small and smelt musty (in need of refurbishment).

Not happy with stay overall although staff and breakfast very good.

I await a response from Hilton on this.
