“Never again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2008

Having stayed in the "Quality" hotel in Reading quite a few years ago I'd vowed never to stay with this chain again, anyway due to unavailability elsewhere I ended up booking this place. Firstly it's described as a town/city centre hotel, it's nothing like it - miles from anything, except the A5. Having eventually found the place at around 21:30 and checked in with the bored reception staff to find the restaurant closed, so had a burger bar meal instead, this was the same standard as the hotel, lacking any finesse or flavour. The room was OK but not too clean or cared for, I wouldn't have stayed more than 1 night for sure. My advice avoid this place unless it's very very cheap or your absolutely desperate.

“A roundabout hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2008

A very average hotel. It's not in the middle of of Milton Keynes, it's in the middle of a roundabout outside of town. Facilities are basic, food is basic, staff are friendly however. If you are are going to Milton Keynes and can find another hotel for a similar price in the town itself, go for it.

“Very good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2007

This is a 'good' quality hotel, although the dinner in the restaurant wasn't all too special. Very friendly service, and the three nights for two offer was particularly good, saving a lot of money, for example if you went to the Travelodge instead.

Recommended A++

“It is OK”

Location – Just off the A5 on the edge of Milton Keynes – the hotel is situated in two mile ash a pleasant residential area of MK. Looking over the golf course you cannot really complain about the setting – but if you want to go into the city you will need to drive.

Parking – Lots of parking & something different – 4 or 5 bays by the front door reserved for ladies – first time I have seen that.

The building – from the Tesco School of architecture of the late eighties / early nineties.

Reception & Public areas – Fresh & clean – tiled floors leather sofas.

The rooms – Large & comfortable – they do need updating but for a night or two they are fine. Two single beds pushed together with large duvet over.

The bathroom – good size, plenty of towels – shower over bath – the shower curtain had seen better days

Food – Breakfast usual self-service – but were happy to cook fresh fried / poached eggs to suit.

Staff – very friendly

Over all – you could do worse.

Tip – eat out in Stony Stratford the small village about two miles away – good choice of venue.

“Not a Quality hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2007

As with other reviewers my room smelt of long term dampness as did other areas of the hotel. The room was in need of a refurb but it wasn't the worst room ever. The bed was massive and quite comfortable but other room facilities were quite old and uncomfortable. The bathroom was small but functional and I agree with other reviewers that you will need to take some nice toiletries of your own as the sachets of shampoo were rubbish. The worst problem was that I was there for a 4 night stay over a weekend (Thurs - Sun nights inclusive). The Hot water went off on Saturday afternoon and didn't come back on by the time I had left. They were unable to give me different room and I had to use another room with working hot water on a rotational basis with other hotel users. Really not a pleasant or relaxing experience. They did offer me some free drinks but I declined asking only that they wipe clean a previous bar bill which they did.

Breakfast was in the the newly refurbished restraunt and was quite good. I didn't eat any other meals in the hotel. The staff tried to be helpful but for some reason they seemed to fail.

Again as with all previous reviewers I was under the impression that the hotel was only a couple of minutes walk from Milton Keynes centre. Not so, but it was only a short taxi ride in a local minicab.

This would be my last choice hotel for future stays in Milon Keynes but I would return if there were no other options.
