“Its convenient for the office and no problems to report”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

This is a tired Holiday Inn, but with no major issues. Reception are pleasant but slow if there is a queue.
The rooms are a bit tired but comfortable and spacious, given the price. The bed was comfortable.

My only gripe is that there is building work at the hotel currently and the car-park is an minefield and certainly the way that the fencing has been put up is not with the customer in mind. However, I accept this is temporary.

Will I stay again - yes, its convenient for work and its comfortable.

Please note the hotel is convenient for my work, but not for Basingstoke centre.

“Basingstoke - late on a Wednesday evening...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Basingstoke, late on a Wednesday evening... After working late and travelling down I was tired and hungry. Holiday Inn? OK, let's see.
So with a cheery registration, could things be getting better, am off to the room. Clean, tidy. Very goos. Ate in the restaurant as am no fan of chasing restaurants on my own, and yes, it is a Holiday Inn restaurant, not the Grand Plaza, it was fine. Food was very good, I was pleasantly surprised.
OK, Basingstoke has no sea view, it is what it is and I am there on business, but I spent many evenings there, Chilling after work, and have no complaints. Staff very nice, no complaints.
Worth a try if staying in basingstoke!!

“Unbelievable Shocking”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

I’ve been staying in hotel for some time now with work and this is by far the worst.
The Staff – Well what can I say, everything comes with an attitude!! They seem to think they are doing you a favor when you for something which is a basic requirement in a Travel Lodge never mind the Holiday Inn. This morning it took them an hour and a half just to bring an ironing board and iron to my room causing me to be late for work, seriously how hard is it,
The Food – I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog!!!, I phoned room service, no body answered, tried again and again, no body answered, tried phoning reception, funny enough nobody answered!!! After half an hour of trying I eventually got through and ordered the spag bol, when it came I was shocked to see that it was tinned spag boll!!!! Another night I order beef lasagna, I got a beef burger, when I informed them of their mistake I was asked if I would like to keep the burger, If I wanted the burger I would have ordered it.
Internet - £16 for 24 hours, do I need to say any more.
I now stay at the Travel Lodge Basingstoke, you don’t expect it to be great considering what you’re paying so you’re not let down however there is a pub next door and a garage and Pizza Express Opposite.
The Holiday Inn is a joke.

Dear Chris B,

May I firstly on behalf of the team apologise for the appalling level of service you have received, clearly this falls well short of my expectations. I would very much like to discuss in detail your experience as this is not similar to some of the exceptional reviews we regularly receive.
Please do email me at tom.gaskell@ihg.com, I would really appreciate the opportunity to deal with your complaint personally.

Kind regards

“first visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

made my first visit last saturday. room small but well looked after and very clean. sunday breakfast was not up to standard. no brown bread, no butter only sunflower spread, no marmalade only jam and honey and chocolate spread. and tea and coffee were made from previously boiled water kept in large insulated flasks! staff very helpful. it would seem that the catering manager was not doing his job!

“Simple yet comfy”

Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice foods.

Bus station to Central Reading (bus every 15min) is right beside the hotel, also local supermarket adjacent to the hotel.
