“You could miss your plane - they don't rise early here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We stayed overnight here in September after arriving on a delayed flight and not feeling up to travelling further.

The hotel was very shabby, and the cleaning was not what you would term thorough. Carpets were encrusted with fluff in corners and the bathroom had a cracked basin that had been repaired with some kind of filler leaving a rough surface. That said, the sheets appeared clean and there were plenty of towels. The whole building smelled like a stale ash tray. And had we not been jet lagged after 24 hour travelling we would not have stayed.
We departed at 7.30 am. In reception there were a pile of keys on the desk from guests that had departed earlier, but no staff in sight, Breakfast room was empty, and no cooking smells were evident. Eventually after 20 minutes, and having rung the bell 3 times, a dishevelled looking man arrived to take our payment. He said he had just nipped out for a smoke, but as we had been out to load our car we knew this to be untrue, I think he had just got out of bed. Luckily we did not have a flight to catch, or we may have missed it.

“Good value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Found this hotel by chance on the Internet and decided to give it a go as it was so cheap with the airport parking in comparison to other hotels.

The hotel is set in a lovely secluded and quiet location. The rooms are a little dated and not spotlessly clean but fine for just one night. We were advised on arrival that the restaurant was not open which is a bit annoying as there are no other places to eat within walking distance but we found a nice pub about a 10 min drive away so not a problem.

We drank in the bar in the evening, it was quiet (we were the only ones there) but the owner kept an eye on us and ensured we never 'ran dry' with our drinks and also stayed and chatted for a while. Breakfast was lovely.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for an overnight stop before you fly with parking. Taxi's can be arranged and we paid £11.50 (although coming back we had to have a Gatwick taxi which was £17!).

“Fantastic value for money”

Stayed one night, and was very pleased. Agree that it is maybe a bit dated, but clean and friendly staff. Certainly would stay again, great value for money

“Does what it say`s on the tin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

Good value for money, paid £40 for 1 night single room(try & get that near gatwick). nice & clean through out but decor a bit dated. Not a huge choice on resturant menu but I think thats a good thing & what I ordered was good basic food. Staff were friendly and very helpful. It`s in a nice quiet location. If any criticism, only me & one other person were dining,( no problem after all it was a Monday eve) perhaps a little back ground music would have broken the awkward silence & the sound of scraping cutlery on plates. Good WIFI, Overall I would recommend & would be happy to use this hotel again.

“Suitable for purpose”

We stayed here before an early flight from Gatwick. The hotel was more than suitable for this purpose. Rooms were very comfortable, bed comfortable, very clean. Decor a little bit dated. Very Quiet location. Staff at hotel were very helpful and recommended a place to eat as they do not do meals on a Sunday evening. We had a good night and were able to let ourselves out early in the morning with no problems, Would stay here again if having an early flight.
