“Great stay in village town!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Hotel is situated literally in the heart of wellington two minute walk from the station, where we caught a train to go straight to the town centre. We travelled to the hotel by car though which had a very secure car park. This helped as my car is very expensive! The staff were nothing short of excellent. Very friendly, helpful and the nephew of the owner was full of jokes! Made our stay very funny. We had an evening meal which Tony the chef cooked. I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and my wife had the lamb shank where the meat was so good quality and tender it literally fell off the bone. The room we stayed in was room 2. Very modern with a seperate toilet to the shower. It was very very clean, facing towards the carpark at the rear thus we did not hear anything during the night. The bed was comfy. In the morning we had a excellent full English. Minus the black pudding however which was a shame but the rest of it was clean and very tasty. Will definitely stay here again. So much better than staying in a hotel where you are just a number. Excellent!!!!

“Very good value for money”

The hotel is not actually in Telford itself, but in Wellington, about a 15 minute drive away from the Telford International Centre, where we were planning on spending the following day. I booked the hotel based on price, as some of the closer venues were much more expensive, but was very pleasantly surprised. It is a small, basic, family run hotel, but pleasantly furnished, with a comfortable small bar/lounge/restaurant area, considerably nicer than I expected to find at the price. The room was perfectly adequate, comfortable and very clean. A little dated in decor, perhaps, but I rather liked that. I was told it has been in the same private ownership for 20 years. Staff, including the owner and his nephew, were very friendly and welcoming. For this money, you would normally expect an impersonal Travelodge or similar, but this represents much better value for money. Free wi-fi in all rooms was a pleasant surprise. Although the hotel is physically located on Park Street, access to it, and its car park, are in The Lawns, just around the corner. This is an important detail, as the doors on Park Street may be locked. In summary, if you have a need to be in Telford, ignore the giant, overpriced hotels in the town centre, with facilities you probably won't use, but save your money and take the short trip to this very pleasant hotel. I will certainly be going back.

“Clean and comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

We stayed for 3 nights in a triple room which was immaculate and the hotel staff were very friendly. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast tasty and prompt. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will always try to stay there when visiting Telford.

“Basic but good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

We stayed 2 nights. The room was a decent size but not huge for a family of 4. The shower power was weak and needed de-scaling. The breakfast was very tasty, lovely sausages and mushrooms in particular. Staff were very friendly and helpful; moved vehicles around in the car park to accommodate ours. Pointed us in the right direction of a lovely Indian & kebab takeaway & provided plates & cutlery for our rooms! Staff good with our children. It is a bit dated & could do with freshening up, but overall for what we paid we were more than happy & would go back for sure.

“Would not stay here again; basic, dated and overpriced for what it was.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

We had travelled to shropshire from london for the night with two children (2 & half and 6 weeks) and arrived late (10pm) so there was no opportunity for us to find somewhere else. The staff were friendly on our arrival but that's really the only positive thing we have to say about this place. The room was small, basic and very dated. Virtually every floorboard creaked - same in the room above, it made such a racket when they went to bed and we could hear their every move - the single bed for our little boy was in squeaked, our bed was not very comfortable and the walls were paper thin. Our room also faced out onto the main street so we had noise from people coming back from the pubs, and the curtains were very thin and not very effective at keeping out the light. Breakfast was pretty bog standard - cheap beans, cheap sausages, greasy fried bread and cheap orange juice. Not good value at all, would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Basic, dated, would not recommend.
