I spent two nights at the mercure hotel and from the moment I arrived I couldn't wait to leave. The pool was full of screaming kids, the sauna was cold, the food was over priced and had very small portions, the shower flooded, the room stank like stale smoke, the bathrobes were grubby, curtain rail was broken, I wasn't told I could order hot food for breakfast. I felt more stressed leaving. Please don't waste your money on this place

Myself and my wife booked our yearly break at this hotel. The facilities were good but the customer service and food was awful.
We were the only people in the restaurant and when my wife went to order at the bar, she was ignored and had to ask someone to get their attention.

We had some queries about the menu but the waitress couldn't be bothered to find the answer for us, making us wait and then telling us to ask someone else.

Breakfast was no better, staff standing around chatting and ignoring us. We complained and the receptionist said she would inform the manager. We heard nothing!! I even wrote a letter of complaint, no reply either. It's a shame as this could be a great place if they sorted out the service.

Firstly I never write reviews, however need to forewarn future visitors. The leisure facilities attached to the hotel is open to the general public, not just members. Pay as you go, and no towels, although hotel guests are free (complete nightmare). My Saturday visit was terrible, suppose to be romantic but far from it. The pool was full of kids (not staying in hotel) and no information regarding lack of towels. Manager couldn't care less, as with most staff; bar seemed mainly occupied by off duty staff, leisure visitors from the squash courts and foul mouthed teenagers not staying in hotel. Room was fine though.

All in all the hotel is badly run with a severe lack of signs guiding visitors. The entrance is a joke, you feel like you're going in the back door! didn't try the restaurant as I decided to cut my losses early (limited choice, high price) as I couldn't see it being a good experience based on the rest of the hotel.

The hotel itself is okay, but if, like me you need Internet access then go elsewhere. I stayed in two rooms and in both the Internet access was truly terrible.

I won't be going back.
