“Pleasantly surprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

My boyfriend and i were visiting his friends for the weekend and i come accross this hotel online. i wasnt expecting much as we only paid £45 per night including continental breakfast but i was surprised at how nice the hotel actually was. the public areas seemed to be very clean and modern aswell as our room. The room was small but had everthing we needed, good flatscreen tv, comfy bed. Bathroom was very clean. We had dinner on the night we checked in and it was very quiet as no-one else was eating but our food was good and service was also good. Breakfast on the first morning i was quite disappointed with only because of the service.
i enjoyed the continental breakfast as there was alot of choice and items i really like but the waitress who greeted us made us feel like we were an inconvenience. Didnt get one smile out of her. We came down to breakfast over 30 mins BEFORE breakfast ended but she made us feel like we were causing a problem. ALL the tables had been used and we managed to find one clean one with no cutlery at all. we had to then hunt for items from other tables. Although we didnt have a cooked breakfst included in our rate she didnt even ask if we wanted to order anything. The next morning a gentleman served us at breakfast and he asked is we wanted to order cooked breakfast which my boyfriend did but he didnt ask how he wanted his egg and just gave him fried. We had a good stay apart from the breakfast service on the first morning, but I would go back to this hotel again

Stayed here on 22 December for one night. We were looking for a cheap and cheerful hotel and this is it. Pleasantly surprised at the good standard of both rooms and food.

Room Tip: We did request a quiet room when booking and room 21 was just that.

“Restaurant - excellent value for money”

We only ate here so can't comment on the rooms. Welcome and service was friendly. Hotel was very quiet on a Saturday evening. We ate the starter and dessert buffets together with the dish of the day. As with a few places - the starters were excellent, the main course good and the desserts (whilst a good selection) were a bit too sweet.

Cost is ~ £15 per person, We'd definitely go there again when we are in the area

“Cheap and very cheerful”

What a great hotel. I guess it's French run and I found it very quirky. The room was comfortable clean and pleasantly decorated. Amenities included shower/shampoo tea coffee biscuits, sweets, and hair dyer.
The food in the restaurant was really nice, the French twist makes it allot more interesting than your brakes food you get in British hotels.
Finally the staff were friendly

“Cheap and Cheerful and actually REALLY GOOD!!!”

From the moment we arrived I was impressed, plentiful parking and not an unpleasent location despite being on an industrial estate. George on reception made us and our dog very welcome, and continued to be friendly and helpful all evening. Our room on the ground floor was small, but really well designed and laid out, I actually liked the green decor, and the room lighting was excellent. The bathroom had a brilliant power shower over a short but deep bath tub, shelf and hooks in the right places, contemporary square basin, up market grohe taps, and not a spec of mould or dirt to be seen. The quality twin beds were pushed together, very comfortable, and would not have been out of place in a four star. The flat sceen TV was in the right position to view from the bed, and we had a great nights sleep. Wifi was free, easy to access and worked well. Dinner was enjoyable and good value, its not fine dining but much better than you might expect for the very reasonable price. The hotel is well kept, in quiet surroundings, is clean and inviting, and for what we paid (£42 a night room only) FANTASTIC value, well done Camponile, see you again soon!
