“Refurbishment is great but breakfast service let it down!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have stayed here with my Husband quite a few times both when it was run by De vere and when Village took over. The refurbishment is great and rooms have more or less everything you need but it would of been nice to have a few little toiletries but i understand this is probably an eco choice. We came away for my Birthday and paid a reduced rate at £89 for a 2 night weekend stay, including breakfast in a standard king room. Room has tea/coffee supplies, nice comfy bed and sofa, plenty of hanging space which is a must for every woman and a great flat screen tv with a good choice of channels. If you want to watch any sport they will show this on the big screens down at the Bar.

We ate on the Friday night in the Bar as they have an offer on where you can get Burger and Chips from £3 and as we had only just arrived this was sufficient. It was fresh, arrived rather quick but nothing to write home about so i wouldn't pay the full price.
Breakfast on both the Saturday and Sunday morning were horrendous! The guy running the tables was great at getting everyone a table but i was the chef that didnt have anything ready and we queued both mornings for around 10 minutes ... not acceptable. I did have to track down the waiters for tea and toast and then butter and jam as there was none on the table ... Hot buffet was ok if you want to wait for it but there was plenty of variety, cold buffet consists of the usual danishes, cereals etc.

Spa facilities are more than adequate, fantastic gym, nice pool and sauna although they could do with cleaning more often ... Towels are provided free of charge before you enter the spa and changing rooms come equipped with hair-dryers which is a nice touch.

We stay here as the location is great for shopping and entertainment with an Outlet Mall a few minutes away and a cinema and bowling complex opposite the hotel!

Overall a good stay but the chef needs to up his game!

“Dark rooms to hide the dirt?!”

Paid £89 for a 2 night weekend stay, including breakfast in a standard king room. The room was dark, that's the style, personally I would have prefered more lighting. Not happy to find white stains on the bed runner and pubic hairs in the bath, otherwise happy with room. Bed was firm and very comfortable. Breakfast was fine, self-service hot and cold selection. Tea, coffee and toast served by waiting staff. Leisure club, fantastic - modern gym, pool and jacuzzi. All the staff we had contact with were very friendly.

“Good hotel, clean, comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We went for a 2 night stay. The room was well appointed and generally clean. There was a bit of dust, particularly in the less often reached places (on top of the pictures, on the venetian blind) - not a major problem but it did give my wife a stuffy nose. Other than that (if you can live with the stripes (see photo)) it was good. Bed was firm but comfy. My wife went to the spa and was very pleased with it. Staff were fine. The food in the restaurant, Buca di Beppo was nice and a notch above what you might cook for yourself. The waiter we had was somewhat overkeen, asking if the menu had been explained and then effectively re-explaining it each time he came to ask what we wanted next. Other than that (and some poor lighting in some corners of the restaurant) it was a pleasant experience.
Would we come again - maybe - but that's more about where it's located and what we would want to see and do. Would we consider a De Vere hotel again - yes.

Room Tip: We had a room toward the back on first floor (I think). It faced and earth bank and so was very qui...

“Great gym and pool, the rest is standard”

I try and stay in a hotel with gym and pool facilities to give me something to do of an evening. This place has fantastic gym and pool facilities, some of the best I've seen. The rest is just like a standard corporate hotel. Would stay again.
Its located in what I would describe as an enterestainment park, a place where there is a cinema and bowling alley. However, I didn't notice any noise.
