Just returned from a long weekend away.
On the whole the Hotel was fine ,not exceptional but ok for a budget break.
Massive comfy bed always a bonus, clean well presented bathroom but some suspicious stains on the beige carpet which were avoided.
Pleasant enough view at the back over the cricket ground but dont be misslead into thinking, aint that quaint ,as it really isnt and all you actually see is a bit of grass and the main stand.
Location of the hotel is on a busy road but nice to see an Aston Martin and Mini dealership across the road to help you sleep dreamily!!!.
Saw comments made over the road and access my advice would be to use the rear entrance(pardon)via Derby Cricket Ground rather than the detour for 1 mile past the hotel to the roundabout and back again.
Day staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful, the guy on the nightshift wouldnt know a smile if it hit him in the face and even Dick Turpin would have the good grace to smile when asking for £6 for a glass of wine ,this was obviously not in his repetoirre(sic) of skills.
As for Derby itself great place, great friendly people ,brilliant mix of old and new,Westfield shop till u drop and the old town /Cathedral quarter cultered ,relaxed and chav free.
The water front development also looks 1st class and a weekend becons when it gets warmer.
Room Tip: Rear of the hotel overlooking the cricket ground

Thank you for your recent review . I am pleased to hear that you found our large beds comfortable on your recent visit. Naturally we have a cleaning programme in place for carpet cleaning and will ensure this room is a priority. When you have the opportunity to stay at the hotel again in summer the view overlooking the Derby County Cricket ground is most valuable, particularly on match days. I agree that the rear entrance is better for access and will be sure to advise this to all future guests. I am pleased to hear that you found our day staff friendly and helpful and I am sure that when you choose to stay here again our night porters will be able to raise a smile. Derby is a great place to visit and we are certainly within easy reach of the Westfield shopping centre and many other areas of interest you may wish to visit whilst staying in Derby. I trust we will see you again soon.
