We stayed here for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year for our first visit to Harrogate.
We found the owners to be very friendly and helpful, and they were very welcoming offering good advice on the area and its attractions and they gave us a useful map of the town.
The location of the guest house is very good, only a 5-10 minute walk to the shops in the centre of town.
We stayed in room no 6, a double on the top floor at the back of the building. We were a little disappointed with the room as there is no separate bathroom area, the shower and basin are in the room itself which is the first time we have come across this in a B&B. Luckily the en suite toilet is in a separate little room.
With the shower being in the room, it made things a little difficult- i.e water sprayed on the bedroom carpet, no privacy and the shower itself was very small with a narrow door opening.
On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable (we got a good night's sleep every night), but with even the slightest movement, the headboard would bang against the wall.
The furniture in the room was in general quite tired, with door handles that had to be re-attached having found them in the drawers.
Due to the small nature of the room, and the fact of it being on the top floor (with a sloping roof), storage space was restricted, with the wardrobe being quite small, and door access compromised by being close to the bed.
On the positive side, the room was thoroughly cleaned every day with refreshments replenished at the same time. The Belmont as a whole was clean and had a very welcoming atmosphere.
Breakfast was very plentiful, and well cooked with a wide range of hot and cold choices, along with a vegetarian option.
Overall, the enthusiastic and warm manner of the owners was a high point (along with the breakfast), and we feel that if the rooms were brought up to a higher standard the Belmont could be one of the top B&Bs in Harrogate.
