we were offered the best room in the hotel and were very happy with it. the room overlooked the park and the only downside was traffic noise after 7am. otherwise a very quiet night.

A group of 6 booked 3 rooms at this hotel and non of the rooms were to a good standard. Our room had broken lights, light fittings hanging off the wall and horrid damp marks all over the walls. Also the room was so cold some clothing that was left out over night felt damp in the morning. I had to tune the channels into the TV and only then i got poor pictures and the remote control did not work.
It didn't stop there the full English breakfast was very very poor with out of the 6 meals 2 were stone cold and another 3 had raw eggs and when we told the waiter about this the meals were just microwaved and in eatable. For £7.95 it was again ger very poor. I refused to pay for both the room and the food as I've had better accomadation in Afghanistan! I'm still waiting for a call from the manager.

Unfortunately my Mum booked this room for a one night Xmas shopping trip without reading Trip Advisor. I then read the reviews and the hotel is every bit as awful as everyone says it is here. Luckily I demanded a refund and we were given one and went to stay elsewhere.
The receptionist was friendly and helpful but made a quick escape after showing us to our room! After walking down several dark, dirty corridors, we arrived at our room. It was dirty and the lightbulbs were broken and needed replacing, so the room was dark and dingy. The blind in the bathroom was broken and hanging off the window so everyone on the street could see you in the bathroom! The curtains in the bedroom were filthy, the carpets were stained and the walls were dirty and scuffed. The ceiling and light fitting were covered in dirt and cobwebs. I dread to think what state the beds would have been in!!
The receptionist offered us another room which was slightly better but still dirty and the door didn't shut properly! I asked/demanded a refund and we were given it. We were lucky enough to find another room at another hotel, it was more than we would have paid at the West Park but it was lovely and the price included a great breakfast.
It might be cheap but you can find a much nicer room for the same price by booking early at one of the many nice hotels in Harrogate or looking at Travelodge or somewhere. This is really a pub with rooms, not a hotel so I imagine it would be very noisy at night too.

Don't be fooled by the photos on their website - the truth is the direct opposite. It has the look and feel of a hotel where rooms are booked by the hour! My daughter and had booked into this hotel for one night but didn't stay. The room we were initially shown was generally dirty looking with stained carpet.The "chandelier" was dusty, cobwebbed and with two bulbs not working. The bathroom was a good size and initially appeared clean. However, the bathroom window was not frosted and the vertical blind had strips missing which meant we were in full view of the main road and park. The toilet seat had at some time been painted white, but this paint was peeling off making it look stained and unpleasant. We asked to be moved to another room but this one, although cleaner, had a door which didn't close properly and the lock was broken. Our request for a refund was granted and we went to another hotel. The receptionist was quite pleasant but it felt as if she was resigned to unhappy guests.
