i booked a single room in hurry but was bit worried because never stayed before. fortunately i got a nice room in a peaceful b&b.The owner was very welcoming and helpful for everything.my room was on first floor and very quiet. bed was very comfortable and room was warm.Breakfast on time. it was fresh too.Overall i enjoyed this stay. will come back again as well.

Arrived early evening to find no one at Reception, however, keys were left out for us. Room was small but clean and tidy, decor a little dated but warm and bed comfortable.

Breakfast was very nice and plentiful, but had to wait as cooked fresh, but worth the wait, just get in early !

My biggest gripe is that we paid by VISA, on the morning of departure, however today they took another £85 ! I was furious to say the least ! Problem getting the money refunded is that the owners don't speak much English, he passed me to the cleaner who is Polish and the the second owner stated she was busy as she had friends around.

This is fine for a cheap and cheerful night no loner, but pay cash !!! Not card.

I stayed at Ashley House, to attend a conference at the centre. It is a wonderful place to stay. The owners are extremely welcoming and helpful and our room was spacious, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and of very high quality. It is also a great location, just a short stroll into town. I would love to return!

A terrible place to stay. We arrived at around 4.00pm having booked 3 rooms for a friends birthday. Reception was manned by a girl who spoke little English and the girl in front of us had already been waiting over an hour for them to sort her booking. (Confusion over surnames). The check in process was slow although we were, however, offered a cup of tea. Perhaps thankfully this never arrived. After 45 minutes we were checked into our rooms. My single ensuite was perfectly acceptable but my friends were checked into Room 10. One problem, guests were already in Room 10. The staff had no idea which keys belonged to which room. After a great deal of fuss and confusion the staff then placed them in another room. This one was filthy - dirty bed linen, crumbs on the side, temperature far too high and filthy bathroom. Perhaps what was more worrying was that staff members were seen minutes earlier clearig their personal belongings out of the room.

After complainig the owner 'upgraded' them to a larger room. The 'large brown dog' mentioned in other reviews is still very definately 'at large'. Breakfast was mediocre - coffee was cold, mushrooms rubbery and waitresses unable to understand simple requests.

We never dared sample the 'facilities' although the room into the back yard from my window appeared to contain several fridges.

The easiest and best part of the stay was the checkout. Don't get me wrong, rooms were cheap. However it would have probably been more comfortable staying in a Baghdad hotel.

On the plus side - it was a birthday. The comedy of the entire stay and the ever present feeling of 'whatever next' did get the weekend off to a good start.
