My wife and I got a brilliant deal at the Crown Hotel using booking.com.
The room tariff for our double room is showing as £250 per night , our three night stay including breakfast cost us the grand total of £210. I would strongly recommend using this method of booking as I dont believe that the Hotel would have matched this price, if booking was made direct with them.
I have read negative reports regarding the lack of car parking at the Hotel someone stated only ten places, this is nonesense,there are around 20 places at the front of the hotel and further available at the rear ( not sure how many though )?
Some may still argue that this is still limited, this is due to the ideal location that the Hotel is situated. It really commands a great area and is well situated within walking distance too the Town centre , although if you have problems walking uphill I,d advise ordering a Taxi.
Our room was made available early and we found it to be large , comfortable, well equipped,
and clean.
The room was serviced each day even though we didnot request it to be.
All staff were very pleasant and helpful.
We found the breakfast to be first class , great selection and variety.
Wasn,t that impressed with the evening meals, the hotel could include some more familiar choices i.e plain home cooked style. I can see what they are trying to do but do feel that they are missing out. In my opinion a lot of people will choose to eat out at the "Wetherspoons" in the winter gardens ( 2 minutes from the Crown hotel ). This is very nice , great staff , good selection of food and beers all at reasonable prices.
All in we had a great time , yes the Hotel is a bit tired in places "room decor" in bedrooms , but we would happily stay there again. Would not be willing to pay £250 per night though.

Got a really good deal on Late Rooms and wouldn't have liked to pay any more. Huge room which was clean and quite nicely decorated, if a little dark. Furniture looked a little dated though. Comfortable bed and no traffic noise. We asked for a quiet room and we were given a room at the back of the hotel which had a lovely view of a wall! Didn't bother me but be aware if you like a room with a view. We could hear noise of guests in rooms above us - don't think they were being unnecessarily loud but any noise seem to come straight through. Had a drink in the Place Bar which was nice if a little expensive. What seems to let the hotel down is the smallest of details. We came back to the hotel after 11 and wanted a last drink in the bar. The Place was shut but Henry's bar was open. Tried to order drinks but got told that we could only charge drinks to the room on a credit card and they wouldn't accept our cash. Apparantly the bar man didn't know there is a recession! Ok if this is their policy but it seems ridiculous and it would have been nice to have been told about this when we checked in. Breakfast was ok - usual buffet stuff, quite nicely cooked. Again, a couple of things let them down. There was no sugar for cereal, just sugar lumps. We ordered tea for two and were brought the tiniest tea pot and no hot water and no-one came to take order for eggs. All in all, I don't think I'd stay here again, although the location is perfect, there are better hotels in Harrogate.

Based on the price the guys were expecting flaking plaster, but even a couple of weeks after their stay comments are being made about how impressed they were.

Bedrooms were large and clean, the resteraunt was good plus there was a choice of plenty of other eateries around, on their second night the ones left went accross the road to the tavern and send the food their was great too.

The price way of less than £60 perhaps tinted glasses, but the inside was clean and impressive - who needs premier inns or holiday inn expresses.

Stayed for a couple of days! Very impressive hotel!Needs a bit of refreshing.
