“excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Third time at this hotel and were were not dissapointed. It was our pearl wedding anniversary and decided to book a suite at this hotel, At first we were a little usure about the suite as it was a little bit on the dark and dingy side, however after seeing the duty manager Peter we were given another room which was just ideal. Nothing was a trouble to him and his staff and they were so helpful and caring, and went out of their way to help us and make our stay most enjoyable. We returned after an evening out to find a anniversary card and bottle of bubbly on the house. Can't thank Peter an his staff enough for their personal service and thoughtfulness. We would recomend this Hotel and will definately go back again.

“Unexpectedly great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Couple of nights ate the Holiday Inn, and I have to say, although I use the chain reasonably often for work, I was very pleasantly surprised by this one in Harrogate.

The room (9th floor, executive bedroom) was spacious and spotless.

the staff were really good - everyone from reception to those that we just bumped into in the lifts and hallways were really helpful and welcoming. Got a real sense of pride from the people who work there.

Did not use the restaurant for dinner, so I can't comment on that, but did have breakfast from the buffet, and it was really good - all fresh and tasty, and plenty of it.

Given that some HI hotels can be a little tired and basic, this one was a really welcome change from the norm!

Only criticism at all would be the ridiculous mini bar 'packages' ... I see what you are trying to do there, but don't make people pay for soft drinks that they don't want or need!!

Thanks for a really nice couple of days!

(Note to management- there was a very faint aroma of sewage in the room - 919 - faded after a few minutes in the room, so didn't bother to complain, but you may want to look into it!)

Room Tip: 9th Floor exec rooms are nice!

“Generic, small details missed but excellent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

As a priority club member I am generally quite fond of holidays inns as a good value business hotel. So pro points close proximity to Harrogate conference centre, lovely big comfortable bed, and a lovely view from the hotel room. Food in the hotel was good although my company had gave us £25 a night dinner allowance I spent £17 but had to pay £3 tray charge out of my own pocket I found this odd as I never paid this in any other hotel my company used including holiday inns? I ordered a sandwich and Fries from room service and was annoyed that no salt or pepper was sent up a small annoyance but still annoying.
Ok so cleanliness of room firstly the bin the room was filthy with no bag in it and also above my bed cobwebs? The high dusting hadn't been done in a while by the looks of it. Although small details I noticed them and the annoyed me.

Dear Sunsetbabe,

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments following a recent stay at the Holiday Inn Harrogate. I would like to assure you that we value all feedback and use it to improve our customer’s experiences for the future.

| was most concerned to see your comments concerning the cleanliness of your room, specifically the bin and the high dusting, clearly this is something that has been missed on this occasion and this is not acceptable. Please accept my most sincere apologies for this, I have spoken to my Housekeeping Manager who was mortified by the pictures, naturally and will be carrying out specific training on the areas mentioned.

In terms of the tray charge issue which you mentioned, we had specific instructions (from the booking agent) that it was food only to get back to company and any other charges including tray charges, drinks etc were to be settled on departure by the guest.

I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future and if there is anything further I can help with then I would be delighted to assist you, please contact myself over the phone or via email, I can be contacted on 01423 849988 or on ops.hiharrogate@qmh-hotels.com.

“First stay at Holiday Inn for years”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed last weekend for 3 nights, our first stay at Holiday Inn for years. Reception staff always pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the 701 resturant the first night which was a lovely meal spoilt by the resturants air conditioning belting out cold air. We thought it was a one off but the second night was even worse. Two other couples came in after us, were seated then asked to move table after a few minites as they were cold. When I asked the waitress she said she wasn't cold.
Having had my gripe about that, the room we were allocated on the 8th floor was clean and spacious with a huge comfortable bed.

“Decent hotel close to town centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stopped here for 2 nights over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The staff were polite and helpful and the room was clean, warm and comfortable. Probably the best thing, however, was how close it is to the centre of the town - no more than a 5 minute stroll. Had breakfast on the Sunday and the choice was good although £10 a person is probably a little steep for what you get. Didn't have any other meals in the hotel as firstly they are typical hotel prices and secondly the choice of restaurants in the town is impressive.
Had a drink in the bar and it was good if not a little dearer than the local pubs.
The only slight negative is the car park which I found a little confusing to use (although that may just be me) and the parking spots are very tight.
All in all I would definitely use this hotel again.
