Have visited the Barn several times and never been dissapointed. However this time not so good. We decided to upgrade to a superior room the room in Sherleys Farm building did look very nice. However there was no mirror in the bedroom, so had to use the bathroom one and the bathroom was freezing cold it had secondary double glazing but that had been removed and the only heat was a towel radiator. Then in the night all the heating went off on one of the coldest nights of the year and we were frozen.
Things got worse at breakfast ordered breakfast the waited 30 minutes for it to come and it ws so dried up sent it back. Waitress did not even say sorry, after another long wait it arrived again and was still just as dried up gave up then as did'nt want another long wait. Complained on check out and receptionist was very apologetic and refunded the room upgrade. She then called the restaurant manager who wrote all our complaints on the back of his hand!!!! However he did say sorry and offered us afternoon tea if we go back, lets hope he transfered the information from his hand to a note pad so he remembers what he promised. Despite these problems we will return to The Barn as it is the ideal place for us to stay when visiting our Son, and when things go well it is a nice hotel.
