My wife and I and our two sons aged 23 and 19 stayed here for 1 nights as part of an 8 week holiday through Europe, UK and Ireland. I had visited Waterford some 35 years ago, and so was returning for a short stop over. We choose Dooley’s based on its location and also affordability – getting somewhere to stay for all four of us that was of reasonable standard and not too expensive was a challenge and Dooleys was the best option. We ended up with two rooms, a double room and a twin room.
For some unexplained reason prior to arriving at Dooleys I was not confident in our accommodation selection and had no high expectations, however, we really enjoyed our stay and Dooleys was perfect for us.
On arrival in Waterford we were able to find the hotel quite easily, the car park that is most convenient is a public car park directly opposite the hotel, which Dooleys can offer at a discounted rate if you ask at Reception. We parked the car there, and whilst a little concerned it was in a public access area experienced no problems. The rooms were of a decent size and well furnished. We had lunch and dinner in the bar areas of the hotel which were good, and provided a very relaxing environment and the location of the hotel is great, it was very easy to walk into the town centre from where we were staying. Breakfast in the restaurant in the morning was very filling.
Staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable, as an example we had heard that the Waterford Crystal Factory had shut down, but the staff told us that a new one had been built in the town centre and so we were able to go and see it (well worth a visit).
In summary I would certainly stay there again.
