“Hope to return soon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stayed at the hotel in early November. Thought it was great. The staff were helpful and pleasant.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. I enjoyed the meal and the service was very good. I had attended a wedding there a few years ago and was so impressed that I decided to take a short break, and am delighted that I did.
Hope to come back soon.

“So nearly perfect....”

Had a short break here first weekend in December, looking for a relaxing escape while exploring this beautiful part of Southern Ireland, in short we had a lovely time and excellent value, however the hotel had a wedding on the Friday night which ruined the experience. I don't hold the hotel responsible for inconsiderate party guests, but clearly they cannot cope with 200 people after the speeches running a muck, the sedate lounge bar became bedlam and there was nowhere to escape the noise even at 3 a.m. Check before you book if they have a wedding.

On the positive side the location and quality of food here is excellent, the maitre d' is a true professional as he should be, but this unfortunately highlights others that fail to reach his standards. I would also recommend good value food from the lounge bar with it's open fire it had a relaxed atmosphere, as it comes from the same kitchen the service is professional however, the drinks are over priced.

Our room, being a standard double was good, the bed was comfortable medium/firm, cleanliness was a high standard although I did find mold on the net curtains. The bathroom had a very shallow bath and a shower with poor plumbing which meant it changed temperature if you flushed the loo.

The leisure facilities again were good, offering a small swimming pool, sauna, Turkish and jacuzzi, all were clean, but staff were clearly bored and apathetic, so I doubt if you got into danger they would even notice. Both the sauna and Turkish needed to be hotter to be effective in my opinion.

What this hotel does well, it does really well and if I had heeded other reviews to avoid a clash with a wedding it would have been near perfect, the winter policy of only opening at weekends does make that difficult. We would book the Faithlegg again as they do offer some excellent dine and stay deals and Waterford has so much more for us to see.

I hope this review is useful to it's readers and if any of the hotel management read this, that they keep wedding bookings and private guests on separate days, as you can't satisfy both at the same time.

“great place tostay”

i had an opportunity to spend a short break in October in this lovely hotel. I was very pleased with the service and accommodations. The beds were soooo comfortable and the bathroom was lovely.( I loved the towel warmers). We had dinner in the town one night, at a restaurant that was highly recommended, however it did not come up the the standard of the hotel restaurant. That was superb. We met other golfers there that were just as pleased with their time spent there as we were. I would certainly recommend that you check out this hotel if you find yourself in Ireland.

Room Tip: We found both of our rooms to be quiet and warm.a

“Enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

stayed with my friends over the weekend. Staff were lovely -professional and friendly. On my way to the room I tripped and fell and a passing staff member insisted on coming to my aid and helping me with my things. The rooms aren't huge but clean and sufficient. Bathroom spotless.

There was a weddding on the Friday so we got the benefit of the traditional music on in one of the interconnecting lounge rooms .The lounge/reception rooms are just as you would expect in a historical house, with the added attraction of helpful yet discreet bar staff.
We ate in this area on our first night and the home made fish and chips were excellent. We relaxed in the lovely wingback chairs in front of the big fire and chatted until late.

Next morning we were up early for breakfast in the pretty restaurant. Breakfast is done buffet style,so we helped ourselves to lots of the good food on offer. My only gripe is that there was a surcharge for an omelette!!

We spent the morning between shopping in the city and a visit to the little Amish bakery near to the hotel. The afternoon saw us in the pretty village of Dunmore East and going for a bracing walk on Woodstown beach-all in easy reach of Faithlegg.

We had specified in our booking that we wanted quiet rooms so were given rooms on the first floor at the very end, where the only noise to be heard was of our own creation.Friends had chose to stay in the old part of the house and were not so lucky, so take this into account when making your booking.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely for a walk and the golfers were out in force!
The leisure centre/pool etc are reached by a lift near reception, the pool itslef is not huge but is again spotless.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room on the first floor.

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review and I am glad to hear that our staff were on hand to assist you when you tripped. Its great you were able to take in the sights of the nearby fishing village of Dunmore East during your stay it is indeed very idyllic.
We do try to allocate (where possible ) rooms away from the function room for residents who are not attending the function so I am happy to hear you were looked after.
I do hope you will return to Faithlegg in the near future.

Best regards,
Deirdre Houlihan, Sales & Marketing Manager, Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Club.

“Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

A classic regal hotel located on a magnificent property. What stood out here for me was the service. The front desk, breakfast and lounge staff were all fast and friendly. The lounge has a few what I call "kings chairs" that will suck you into relaxation. The breakfast was expansive but very Irish in nature. My major complaint was the internet. It's beyond me why any decent hotel today can't have internet in the rooms. They had an internet room which was cold. Perhaps the clientele that I saw there is not of the age that demands internet connectivity. I found the walls a bit thin too.
