“Luxurious and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My wife and I are currently staying in this beautiful historic hotel and we think it is great. The hotel dates from the 1700s and is right on the waterfront of this ancient town of Waterford which dates back to 900 AD. Our room was only 50 Euros per person per night and it is fully equipped with everything we could need. Downstairs is a wood-panelled bar full of character and a nice restaurant where we had breakfast. The staff are just great. We had no idea Waterford had so much to offer - there are historic buildings (13th and 14th century) just around the corner as well as the world famous Waterford Crystal factory. Also plenty of shopping and restaurants, bars and quaint seaside villages a short drive away. This is our favourite part of Ireland from what we have seen so far. There is free wired internet which is very fast. We highly recommend this hotel.

“A step in time - which is a good thing!”

Stayed at the Granville in April and again in August of 2011. The hotel is clean, well appointed rooms, has wireless internet and excellent full breakfast with attentive staff. The hotel itself reminds me of my trips to the Ireland, the UK and the Continent years back when hotels had their own character and weren't all Holiday Inn clones like they seem to be today.
I plan to stay here again when I'm back in Waterford for business or for pleasure.

“Great hotel in a great location.”

We stayed here for 3 nights from 20th Jan 2012. We found the reception staff very helpful and efficient. Our room was in a quiet area on the third floor and it was very comfortable and clean. Our bathroom was very spacious and spotless. The shower was in the bath, which I am always concerned about, but there was a safety grab rail. Plenty of towels, soaps and shampoo/body wash. The bar was very busy and the service was quick and courteous. I had a bit of a problem with the access to the smoking area, as whenever anyone opened the door, the smell of smoke wafted in to that area of the bar. The breakfast was first class, with lots of choice and again the service was excellent. We would love to return to this hotel again in the near future.

“Excellent hotel in good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Stayed at the Granville Dec 30th to January 1st. Overall an excellent hotel in good location -parking across from hotel easy and cheap.
At this time of year hotel was obviously very busy but service very good -room good with free wired internet.
Jackie at reception (owners daughter) could not have been more helpful even when we had to change plans from 3 nights to 2 nights and then cancelled evening meal to go somehwere else. Try the Flame in Henrietta Street.
Service at crowded bar very efficient and helpful -suggested full bottle of wine more economic than 3 small bottles -well done -it was.
Had a wedding ending and evening function so very busy -we were warned when we checked in that we would hear some music until about 1 > 1-15am unfortunately had to ring front desk at 2am and ask how long would the very loud music be keeping us awake for -answer -we have just asked for it to end and it did 10 minutes later.
This did not decry from a very pleaseant stay at the hotel -we visired Tramore races on the 31st -if you like racing it is a small pleasant track very welcoming.

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. Lovely to read you enjoyed taking in Tramore races and your stay at the Granville during the busy festive season. It's important for Waterford that guests get to experience what we have to offer. Perhaps you will return for next years festivities.
