“A hotel for all seasons?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

This is the typical run of the mill provincial Irish hotel that you find on the edge of every Irish town. It comes complete with the generic decor and the generic bar food and breakfast menu and caters for weddings, wakes, debs and other Irish social occasions. However, like most hotels of this ilk, it is clean, comfortable, friendly and can offer good deals from time to time.

I'm on the road with work a lot and have stayed here a number of times to break up journeys between Dublin and Donegal/Derry. I have had no issue or complaint of any of those occasions. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The hotel is comfortabIe and all the amenities are sound. I particularly love the pool and leisure centre (low lighting, very relaxing) and the lounge area is a great place to read a paper, or do a bit of work.
The only complaints I would have would be the same complaints I make about all these type Irish hotels: no escape from blaring TV's when eating in the bar; excessive noise and drunk people if there is a wedding or function on; palatable and ok-ish food (but usually nothing organic or locally sourced), piped music or some radio station playing during breakfast, not able to serve a decent pasta.... etc, etc
The Four Seasons is not very Vivaldi, but it worth a stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if there is a function on.

“Not bad at all.”

Spent one night in the Four Seasons, Monaghan prior to a wedding. There was the obvious issue here of the name, this hotel is NOT part of the popular chain so don;t make that mistake. So I checked in with that in mind and to be honest it wasn't a bad hotel at all. I found the rooms by be perfectly adequate and would compare them to a typical 3 star business class hotel. It was clean and comfortable and absolutely served its purpose. If you are looking for a hotel in monaghan I would recommend it but what I will say is that it will be one of those hotels you stay in thats just a little bit forgettable, as in there was neither anything special or horrific about it.

“Very pleasant stay”

We stayed for a weekend at this hotel. Very friendly staff and good facilities. Wheelchair access was a little limited but the management pulled out all the stops to ensure our stay was pleasant. Hotel was well situated for visits to local amenities. Food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent as was the service at all times.

Room Tip: Not beside the outdoor hot tub

“Returning after stay exhausted!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

i have just eturned from a weekend at the Four Seasons in Monaghan. It was to be an annual break away for me and my friends so we can chill and enjoy the facilites and do bit of Christmas shopping. We had purchased the break as a Groupon deal. On arrival we found the staff helpful and courteous. The food in the bar was of a good quality and reasonably priced. We were informed that our breakfast was not included which was a pity as I had noticed on their website that they had a deal that was better than what we had bought but carried on and paid the extra 10 Euro per head, the Avenue Resturant also had good food at a competitive price for the quality we received. Our biggest issue however was the noise in the Hotel- our ground floor room faced a function room across a courtyard. The function blasted music until after 1 am then when it finished there were drunks running up and down the hall kicking metal ashtrays, banging the doors and urinating outside our window. This went on all night! On checkout I paid my bill and then was asked if everything was ok-when i said no the pleaseant receptionist told me that it was a pity that I was returning home exhausted but I should have rang reception to complain.Generally I dont complain functionsare a hotels bread and butter and I dont want the hotel to think that I was complaining so I could receive a reduction but in all honestly empathy is not going to bring the customers back: I also left a detailed feedback sheet detailing the problems and have still not heard anything back. I am really disappointed by the hotels lack of customner care so I wont be returning or recommending this hotel to others!

Room Tip: As far away from the funtions rooms as possible..like Cavan!!

“If you want a family friendly hotel then this is it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed for one night only with our two boys a 4 year old and 1 year old. Great facilities and friendly staff. Pool very nice and kids paddle pool also. Evening food is of a 5 star rating. Only slight negitive is that the room bathroom was bit dated and the shower in the bath was too strong and ended up soaking the floor after shower. Bit of investment needed here. We loved it and will be back soon. :-)
