This is the typical run of the mill provincial Irish hotel that you find on the edge of every Irish town. It comes complete with the generic decor and the generic bar food and breakfast menu and caters for weddings, wakes, debs and other Irish social occasions. However, like most hotels of this ilk, it is clean, comfortable, friendly and can offer good deals from time to time.
I'm on the road with work a lot and have stayed here a number of times to break up journeys between Dublin and Donegal/Derry. I have had no issue or complaint of any of those occasions. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The hotel is comfortabIe and all the amenities are sound. I particularly love the pool and leisure centre (low lighting, very relaxing) and the lounge area is a great place to read a paper, or do a bit of work.
The only complaints I would have would be the same complaints I make about all these type Irish hotels: no escape from blaring TV's when eating in the bar; excessive noise and drunk people if there is a wedding or function on; palatable and ok-ish food (but usually nothing organic or locally sourced), piped music or some radio station playing during breakfast, not able to serve a decent pasta.... etc, etc
The Four Seasons is not very Vivaldi, but it worth a stay!
