this is one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in.I can safely say that i got the best presented meal i have ever had and the taste was excellent. the chef was Xavier Blondel and I would recommend him to anyone. Our room was very spacious and clean.Beds were excellent..Spa was good and staff were friendly. The gym was adequate.
I will stay here again.

“Nice, modern, friendly hotel. Didn't live up to the hype for me though”

I stayed here with my boyfriend for his birthday on January 27-28 and was really excited because it had been rated in the top ten hotels in Ireland by tripadvisor. The hotel was really busy with hen parties and stags. For us that just added to the holiday atmosphere but the foyer and bar did get a bit noisy at times and this mightn't be for everyone. First the positives - The reception staff were really quick and efficient and quite friendly on our arrival. (The friendliness was quite perfunctory, but then they were extremely busy.) Our room was GORGEOUS. THe fabulous big king-size bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in in years. The room was not huge but fairly spacious and fine for us. There was a lovely coffee/tea area and the decor was styish and pleasing (in a hotel-chain-generic sort of way). The bathroom was fabulous- marble with a fantastic jacuzzi bath and separate huge shower and spotlessly clean. Also there is a great selection of free recent release movies (You get one free per night) Later the reception staff were helpful with advice about activiites and they also booked dinner for us at a local restaurant. In fact, in general all the staff we met were really helpful and friendly.

Okay, now for the not-so-positives. The most striking was the leisure centre. It is shared with the Castlecourt hotel next door and it is definitely not a 4* facility. The changing area was not clean. The bin was overflowing and the floor, in the corners especially, was dirty. Also, I imagine because it it shared with 2 hotels the pool was packed when I went down. I turned around and left straight away. Secondly, when I rang the hotel the day before we went with an enquiry I got an extremely unfriendly woman who barked 'Castlecourt Hotel' at me, which confused me, and was very unhelpful before unceremoniously putting me through to the Plaza. They must share a switchboard (?) Bad first impression.

Thirdly the bar food was mediocre but not priced accordingly. We got fish and chips and peas. The peas were fab but the rest was really ordinary and overdone. We ate out after that. Most of the bar staff were fine but there was one really grumpy bar man (short dark hair) who clearly found us an annoyance. Few last quibbles - the foyer was too chilly for lounging - we went back to our room. The heating system in our room we couldn't get to grips with - it was either really hot or too cold. And we had a room with adjoining doors, which are not sound proofed, so we didn't sleep very well as there was a crying baby next door. In fairness when I said this at reception when we were leaving she said we should have told her and she would have moved us.

In summary this is nice, modern hotel with mostly friendly and helpful staff. There were enough small things however, that meant that overall I was slightly disappointed given the rave reviews on here and given that we had paid full price for the rooms.

Room Tip: Get a room without adjoining doors as they are not sound-proof.

Dear Guest ,

Thank you very much for staying with us recently and for your positive review overall.

I will look into the matters raised in relation to the bar and also the airconditioning and thank you for bringing them to my attention. I would add that we would encourage all guests if they are having any concerns to just mention them to us so that we can rectify them on the spot. Our reception is open for 24 hours a day and we are here for our guests at all times. In the event of a food issue our team are empowered to deal with any feedback and make sure that the customer leaves the bar or restaurant satisfied.

We are very pleased that you were so happy with our bedrooms, beds and bathrooms and we hope to welcome you back in the future. I would welcome an opportunity to meet you so please do not hesitate to ask for me personally if returning to westport.

Yours Sincerely

John Clesham

“Excellent Hotel”

We visited the Westport Plaza Hotel in December (16th) for 2 nights. There were 12 of us in total. At every stage of my organising this group stay, the hotel staff were so helpful. Nothing was a problem. The rooms were so spacious, clean and comfortable. We were so touched by the chocolates, wine and gift box left for my sister (Party girl). The bar food was lovely. It is such a great location for wandering up town. On the Saturday night we had an amazing meal (16 people). The food was fabulous. At all times, all staff were so helpful. We had a super time. Everyone in our party was so impressed with the hotel. Check out was very efficient. I would highly recommend this hotel. I have stayed here in the past with very young children and it was equally accommodating, especially with hot water in the middle of the night to warm a baby's bottle! Well done to a great team. Maria and Patricia were very helpful in making the booking so easy.
