“Awfull!”

We booked into the Castletroy lodge for a rugby game. Firstly, I found the price to be way over the top, one hundred and forty for a double room with no breakfast! Room was unimpressive, basic and very small. Toilet was not cleaned so first impressions were far from good. Reception staff fail to make you feel in any way welcome either. We arrived back to the hotel quite late got a plate of sandwiches in the bar quite obviously leftovers from the wedding on that night for 8 euro. After going to bed we found it impossible to sleep with the unbearable heat in the room, it was stifling and no air con. Eventually after falling to sleep at a crazy hour, we awoke to a a member of cleaning staff entering the room at nine o clock without having the courtesy to knock on the door, which I found the most disturbing having got quite a fright. Since we were awake and no chance of getting back to sleep and the heat was still too much we went to the swimming pool which was the only part of the hotel that I enjoyed. Coming back to the room following this our key card had been deactivated!!! So again we had to head back to reception which I did not take kindly to since I had just came from the pool and was dressed in sports gear and reception was packed with the previous nights wedding party... no apology was forthcoming from the reception staff here either. Upon a swift shower and change we checked out, here I complained about our morning's disruption while the lady checking us out half saying sorry while staring at us with her mouth open her colleague simply giggled at us. Needless to say we won't be making a return visit

“Adequate, but will not be making a return visit”

Room was quite small and double bed was tiny, in fact it could scarcely be called a double bed. Also, plastic undersheets were used which were decidedly uncomfortable. One wonders has incontinence been a problem with previous guests??!! On the plus side, the cooked breakfast was very nice. But we can honestly say we will not be staying there again.

This is not first time i have stayed at the Castletroy Lodge and it wont be the last.
The Lodge has a warm relaxed atmosphere
I found my room very comfortable and WHAT A BREAKFAST.
When they say Bed & Full Irish Breakfast, you get just that and more.

“Warm and Welcoming”

I happened across this B&B by accident while visiting Limerick. I only stayed one night but was really impressed with the level of attention to detail. The receptionist has an excellent local knowledge and could recommend plenty of places for a night out. The rooms are warm and cosy and the breakfast is exactly what you need to start out the day.I would definetly reccomend the Lodge for anyone visiting Limerick

“Convenient without warmth”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2005

This lodge is a purpose-built money making exercise with none of the warmth you might hope for in an Irish B&B. The money saving is evident everywhere down to the smaller than average double beds and the deposit you pay on your key. If you are Irish and need to be near the university then yes, it probably has all that you will need. It’s convenient, with a freshly cooked breakfast and friendly enough staff. If you are a tourist however, in search of something a bit special then I wouldn't recommend it. Its over-priced, with quite a walk to the nearest pub and you won't get any feel for "real Ireland".
