“Interesting Place - Impressive really”

I had read the other reviews and was intrigued to see if this was really as good as some suggested for the money. I had to stay over in Limerick and decided to take up the €39 B&B offer which I thought was too good to be true and was prepared to be disappointed! Well its centrally located as stated, yes I suspect it can be noisy if at the front of house, the receptionist was most helpful and welcoming, the waitress was efficient at breakfast, my room although tight was very clean, well presented and had a coffee & tea tray available which always sends a right signal. The shower if I want to be picky was tight but hot water flowed. The Hotel whilst being small has a charm to it and the breakfast was cooked to order and excellently cooked at that. Fresh coffee was also in good supply. Yes the orange juice could be better but hey what do you expect for €39 so its a thumbs up. Finally the parking was available but its located just before the hotel and its a one way street but very reasonable. I am glad I stayed there.

Room Tip: Ask for a back room if noise might be an issue for sleeping, I had several nite caps so it wasn'...

“Good Value, Centrally Located...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed here with three others recently as part of a city deal website deal which I purchased back in June 2011. Although the vouchure expired in December 2011 the hotel obilged to let our group extend the vouchure into the new year which was great.

We arrived quite late on arrival and were greeted by Kate in a very welcoming warm manner. Although the rooms we had were somewhat on the small size they were adequate, clean and comfortable.

Breakfast is on a reserved slot basis as the breakfast conservatory area is limited in size but does offer a good and varied selection for a typical Irish breakfast. The first morning of having breakfast was a little slow in that the server was on their own but as for the second morning the service was very efficient, fast but in a relaxed environment. We all very much enjoyed that breakfast and I personally would like to say a big thank you to Ann the breakfast server as well as Kate for their warm welcoming service.

It is a good value location in the heart of the City with easy access to all facilities. For the issue of noise this was a little extreme at times but was warned about this when booking was made so was expected and for the Fri/Sat night stays it quietened down from 1am.

Overall, the stay was quite comfortable and would be happy to reccommend!

Room Tip: It would be best to request a room on the back or the other side of the building from where the O...

“Small, Average Hotel, Nice Staff, Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

First, the good:

- The hotel is clean and comfortable.

- Location is pretty good, it's in the core of the city - very close to shopping and nightlife.

- Internet is wireless, and adequately speedy.

- Nice, comfortable breakfast area.

Overall, we had no troubles at the hotel. It's a little difficult to find since Denmark street is only one way, and a a bit tucked away off a main strip. The hotel is situated near several bars, and even owns one that is right around the corner from where you're at. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and willing to do whatever they can to make sure your stay is great.

Bad/Iffy Points:

- The hotel is on a very small, tight, one-way street. The street is a little seedy it seems, and this is where it being so close to bars has a little bit of a drawback. 1am, drunken people were singing and yelling in the street as the places let out. I'm looking at you Nancy Blake's Pub.....

- Fast forward to 3-4am, the street was alive with the cacaphony of delivery trucks banging racks to and from a local business. This happened both nights we stayed there. More on that in the 'room selection tips'.

- Hotel has this odd little rule where guests have to be let in by the front desk staff. Basically you're locked out until they release the door and you can get in. A little annoying when they're not at the desk, but they do have a phone that they carry on their person that rings when you ring the doorbell if they aren't there.

- This hotel is small. As in, tiny. As in, we couldn't even use the shower because the it was so small. You literally have to step next to the toilet to open the bathroom door. The bedrooms aren't much better. Boutique must mean 'small' in Gaelic. If you are a man or woman of any level of girth, run, don't walk, in the other direction. Although if you're of considerable girth, I suppose you'd waddle.

- The internet is wireless, but I'm believing you would have difficulty accessing it if you're not in the front of the house where the wireless router is. There are no routers or connection points throughout the hotel, just in the front.

- Breakfast is not a buffet (except for cereal and bakery items). Everything is ordered off a menu, and they have a tight window of when you can eat. I believe ours was from 8:30 - 10:30am. I surmise this is due to the chef pulling double duty as the hotel chef and the bar chef. Why pay two people when you can pay one?

- No elevator. Rest assured you'll be lugging your luggage up a flight of (small, tight) stairs.

- When we were there, the television was old (non-flatscreen) and had about 3 channels. If you're familiar with National Lampoon's European Vacation: You can watch either cheese or snow.

If you're used to european 'hotels', I'm sure this is nothing out of the ordinary (as evinced by the number of people thinking this place was the bees knees). If you're from the states, this place is a little tight with few expected amenities. If you have the cash, burn a little of it to upgrade to something more substantial, or in a nicer part of town. If not, you'll be save and be able to sleep, but it won't be a luxurious rest.

Room Tip: Try to choose something at the back of the house, which is directly opposite the street. If you'...
