“So much depends on the personal experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

"Excellent" means in its class of 3-stars, of course. I got this at a 40 euro B&B for two rate, unbeatable, from Travelrepublic.ie, in spite of the hotel's website claim that you can't get lower prices (than 49+breakfast) anywhere.
We needed to know the real phone number for the hotel (see war story below) to call for directions and to call to get out of the public car park (6.70 extra next morning) which serves as the hotel car park. (The trick is to press and hold the door release button, not simply press once). The duty manager came across and let us out, the jolly receptionist put us in a good humour, we had a good nights sleep on the fifth floor away from traffic noise and with a good view over the Shannon, and we got a good breakfast from a motherly waitress who met our requests with eagerness: porridge (not on display) with honey, and the egg well done. What's not to like?
The only thing visitors might not like is the charge for internet use: 5 euro for 1 hour, 10 euro for a day.
This was a turnaround in my perception of the hotel staff because I had earlier in the day called the number on the web site (061 207000) only to get an automated response asking me to enter a room number. This gave a momentary panic as I thought the price from Travelrepublic (aka LateRooms.com) was too good and the hotel was in fact closed. I got the real number (061 207099) from the central reservations service of Jury's Inns. When I reported this problem to the hotel the receptionist simply repeated that the 207000 number was the correct one and I got annoyed when she did not seem to comprehend that I was reporting a problem with that number and was not really listening to me. By the time we got there, I had got over that; and by the next morning our experience was much more positive. It's a service business.

Room Tip: Fifth floor is renovated and above traffic noise.

“Cheap & Very Cheerfull”

For a one night stayover, business, no frills, you can't beat this hotel.
44 Euro B&B and the friendliest front-desk I've come across in ages.
Great Value.
If you are fortunate enough to meet Johanna in Reception, be sure to ask her about her two dogs Rocky and Rambo. She made my stay very enjoyable, even ringing me after I cjhecked out to say she had the hat I left behind at Reception for me.

Room Tip: Nice views of the Shannon river from some rooms

“Wasn't the worst definitely not the best!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

My boyfriend and myself went down to Limerick from Dublin for a rugby game and got this hotel because they offer student rates of 40 euro a night. Receptionist was nice and polite and we got our room quickly. When we got there the door was ajar which was a bit odd, but entered and the room was fine. This is definitely not a luxurious hotel by any means, but for a quick trip down it wasn't that bad.

“It was going so well until:”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

It was an average stay overall. Enough that I would book again but two little things tried to get the better of us.

First of all the hotel was fully booked even though I had a booking with Lastminute. I was left standing in the reception whilst the staff argued with each other in a back room. Between themselves and Lastminute I was given my room key which I had pre paid for.

Rooms(151 of them) are very clean and beds are comfortable. It is a basic tourist class hotel so no frills were expected. Adjacent secure parking was €7.50 per night which was fine.

We had a quiet room overlooking the back of the hotel/car park. The rooms on the front, from experience, are noisier because of the traffic from the busy road. We also had a view over the hotels yard where the bins, bottle bins, compactor etc are. I guess this is also where the manager considers his smoking / outdoor toilet to be. As you open the curtains and window in the morning to welcome the world into the room you don't expect to see the hotels MANAGER urinating and smoking(at same time) against the side of the recycling bins. To get back into the hotel he would have to pass through the kitchen. How disgusting.

The location is excellent and near the major traffic arteries in and out of the city. 15 minutes from the airport by car and 5 minutes to the city centre by foot. There is a shop across the road for all those last minute things/snacks,

The next morning, New Years morning, check out was quiet(go figure) as most we likely still in bed. We left and headed home(skipping breakfast) and, even though there were two little things that put a dampner on it, we would be happy to stay again if we got the same/similar price from the price comparison website.

“Not bad for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I stayed here with my family and we had 2 communicating rooms which was really handy when travelling with children. Good location for the town. Surprised that they show that they have a restaurant but this was closed on both nights of our stay, however bar food was available. Reception staff were functional, no real warm welcome, but the girl behind the bar (Donna) was friendly, smiley and helpful, just how hotel staff should be, (one to promote if you want customers to return. Breakfasts adequate but only because our tarif was inclusive, not worth the money otherwise. Would use again for short stay but is really a glorified travel lodge.
