Having stayed here two times previously I made a reservation for New Years Eve to have our first away from home celebration for the festivities. During the time of booking to arrival the management/ownership changes hands. I arrive on New Years Eve and was asked for 51% more than what I had agreed upon by e-mail with the previous operators which I very politely advised them I will refuse to pay on principle. Thank god for the power of the iPhone I was able to use a booking website to get another hotel further up in the city for less than what I was being demanded of in this hotel.
I could believe the audacity of the hotel to demand such an increase and have the audacity to make such demands on arrival for check-in.
One would think that somebody trying to build a hotel upon the former site/building of an Asylum centre / refugee accommodation centre would have a little more tact to try to retain a returning guest.
I will not return to this hotel again and happily discourage others from doing so if they continue this attitude.
If people are happy to stay here and why I stayed there before then it is because it IS central, it is normally cheap, it has limited free parking and was recently renovated(after the refugees left).
It is perfect for stags and hens and those who do not mind noise at the weekends. The rooms are pretty small as are the bathrooms. It's a budget hotel. I only stayed here on my own because I would be out with friends and the Taxi to and from home would be more than the cost of the hotel stay.
Never again.
Booked 3 rooms for 3 couples for 30/31st of December.
On the morning of the 30th my dad was rushed to hospital with a serious heart attack and had to undergo heart surgery.
On the Friday morning my boyfriend emailed them and explained the situation to see of we could just cancel my room, to which the hotel replied no sorry it is a non refundable booking.
Pretty disquisting customer service from the hotel no humanity or regard.
the hotel is in walking distance of all shopping districts and nightlife but the hotel and it's service level is very basic it just does not seem to 'flow', the breakfast is self service and you have to find this out yourself(was sitting at my table waiting for service) the rooms are basic and not very big and there can be a lot of noise from other rooms as it's a budget hotel, the bar staff forgot to get us our drinks
The hotel is located right in the centre of city......pubs,clubs and shops a stones throw away. No need for taxis. Also Thomond pk is about 10 min walk. It has limited free parking (for about 15 cars by the looks of it) which I was lucky to get. The room was big enough and had 2 double beds. The hot water did not work in the shower but after 5 mins of informing reception we were moved to the same room a floor up. I have read other reviews about noise from the bar if located in a room over it (which we were in) but I we didnt hear a thing but that could of been because we didn't get in til late. We were on a deal for B & B, dinner, champagne and choc's. The dinner was lovely, champs and chocs a nice touch but the breakfast was good only for the eggs were like cheewing on rubber. In saying that i went upto the counter after we nearly finished ours and there were fresh eggs (maybe were just unlucky at time we went for breakfast)! The hotel itself is small and basic with a nice modern bar. I would recommend this to people like myself, that are going to Limerick for a day/night away, shopping and a few beers and that want a basic centrally located hotel and with good staff and nice food.
